(1) The RN fighter will stay until the status of all axis bombers is determined or until it's shot down.

(2) If given preference for axis shoot downs or aborts I will select the axis bomber.

JA41 i8: rnd 1 air to air now done.
Second round of air-air cleared another axis NAV and aborted the Beau-fighter (I sent it to Malta, if you wished that changed let me know). Note, in a couple of hours I am leaving for an all day event and will get back to gaming on Sunday afternoon.

JA41 i8 W. Med rnd 1 results.
AA reduced bombs by 2 and the result damage was X 3A. I applied my results against the French in the 4-box, sinking one CA and 1/2 aborting (ne) another. I assumed you would applying your A's against the CW CA's in the 3-box (keeping units in the highest boxes. If you wish I can apply those rolls against the FR?

JA41 i8: W. Med naval combat rnd 2 A-A
Axis found and engaged 0-box with 8 SP. Used 6SP to move my A-A up 1 and your A-A down 2 columns (image not shown).
A-A results cleared an axis bomber, I had the CW select the GE NAV. And then the axis A-A results shot down the Hurricane (losing the pilot).

The NAV's cleared through and used the last 2 SP to move the result up 1 column to X D 2A.
Do you want to stay for round 3 searches?

Here is the current situation in the sea zone. Note, the sub was not committed, so it would stay in the zone if you aborted the zone. If you abort, please note where you would like ships to go.

Good grief, what a disaster for the RN in the Western Med. Heads are going to roll at White Hall, or wherever RN Admiralty command is housed.

(1) The RN will stay to the bitter end, hoping to have any ships at sea at the end of the combat. Obviously, the CW will choose to avoid combat if they get this chance.

(2) Please send any aborted ships and CPs to Gibraltar.

Rnd 3 search rolls favored the allies (10/5) and allowed the remaining fleet to avoid the terror from the skies.

JA41 i8: Land Attacks.
Two attacks in the South of Spain. The ships and CVP in CSV can support the blitz attack adjacent to Gibraltar (current odds are 60:14, +13.6 Blitz). Will you with CA or CVP support?

The RN will provide full naval support and full air support if no axis fighters are in position to intercept.

What odds am I looking at? If his support can really make a difference then I want to use it.

At the point that it is your decision it is 60:15 (one point of shore bombardment) and it would be a +13B. I do have Guderian in the attack and he could provide support from my side, but I have not committed him yet. You also will have one more point of Ground support from the CVP. I don't believe there is any other support you could provide. I also have planes available to provide Ground support, though again it is not yet committed.

This is a close call, in the end the odds are likely to be about the same, but I may have to use more resources (HQ and planes) to keep them close if you use the HQ. However, he would them be disorganized in Gibraltar.

No to the HQ support then.

JA41 i8: Land attack results
The Blitz attack had no HQ support from either side. The CW supported with 1 shore bombardment and 1 ground support factor (from the CVP). Rolled well enough in both cases. I shattered the INF corp (saving the most build points) for the CW.

Pat,

Won't be able to get to my impulse until tomorrow evening. Assuming I get lucky, which I highly doubt, and this turn ends, what are your instructions for Nazi-Soviet Pact chits?

If the first chit is 4 or greater place it in the Defensive pool. Put the second chit in the offensive pool.

If the first chit is 3 or less place it in the offensive pool. Then if the second chit is 4 or greater place it defensive pool, otherwise it goes to the offensive pool.

Irrespective of the above, move the last 1-chit from the defensive pool to the offensive pool.

Turn 12. Jul/Aug 1941. Allied #9. Western Med. Axis Intercept Questions.

Two RN task forces origination from Malta are moving into the Western Med. The first task force consists of 3 RN battleships and the second one 2 heavy cruisers.

Do you wish to attempt an intercept against either, or both? If so, which unit do you wish to unit to try to initiate combat?

FYI: Based on your naval combats last impulse, for the (unsuccessful) Bay of Biscay attempt I disorganized the German BF 110c fighter located in the 2-box and for the (successful) West Med attempt I disorganized the Italian Gabbiano NAV in the 2-box.

Yes to both. Anything moving into the BoB or W. Med should be intercepted.
In the W. Med, use the German Bf 110e (5pt'er) to initiate.
In the BoB, use the Condor if needed.

That is fine.

Turn 12. Jul/Aug 1941. Allied #9. Post Naval Moves. Contested Sea Areas.

The RN and French navy elect not to attempt to initiate combat in any of the three contested sea areas. Because no allied ships stop in or moved down in any of these three areas the axis are not given an opportunity to try, which is just fine with the allies.

Something positive at least. Can't say the French are too happy having the RAF bomb Paris, but oh well this is war.

Turn 12. Jul/Aug 1941. Allied #9. CW, HQ Reorg.

In preparing for the worse, Alexander is ordered to reorganize all the naval resources he can based at Gibraltar. Making use of fractions, Alexander is able to reorganize 4.5 points worth of units using 4 reorg points.
