My wife was nice enough ordered me Fleet Commander Nimitz by DVG for Christmas. I know some had issues with it but I watched every video I could find and I'm sure I will enjoy the game.
When I brought the package inside it was rattling so much I opened it to check the contents; wow most of the counters separated from the card. I think everything is there I'm just glad it's for me. I'd be embarrassed to have given this as a gift.

The image is how it arrived

Hmm I'd contact Dan.

Actually I've sent him the link to this post...I'm sure he doesn't want his games getting sold like that.

I didn't want to complain because the box is huge and thought we might end up in the future with a smaller box to stop the contents from shifting.

Everything seems to be there in good condition otherwise. I posted mostly to show the amount of counters. I do see your point though.

A lot of people reported the same issue on BoardGamesGeek.
My copy also arrived with some of the counters out of the sheet, but not as bad as I can see in your photo.
What it annoyed me more was that some of the US counters were printed misaligned.
Anyway I've contacted DVG customer support asking if they could send me replacements for the misaligned counters, and they shipped me a full set of the counter sheets.

He knows about this issue. Like I've said it was fully reported and I doubt that there isn't a single box with the same issue.

Well that's good to hear.

I downloaded the counter sheet pdf from DVG and counted up the ship counters and play aids. I didn't count the planes and infantry though. I separated everything by year and packed it up till Christmas.

If you use counter trays to store the counters, you'll need two deep DVG counter trays. :)

Good point about the laser cut....After watching the video link VPaulus posted; Marco seemed happy about how easy the counters separate.

I can understand being annoyed that you had to sort everything out, but on the other hand, counters falling out of the sheet is like eating ribs that slide right off the bone. Cooked/cut to perfection!

Way better than not being cut all the way and getting tears and such.

As a follow up, have any of you guys played this? I have Field Commander Napoleon and it's a pretty cool system. How does Nimitz compare? Seems like it must be a much more tactical game based on the counters.

I haven't played yet as my wife has it securely stored away...but the Play through by Ricky Royal sold me.

Several players complained about the Random Japanese AI, no Grand Campaign...(they're yearly scenarios), and that the battle board became repetitive. After watching the play though videos I'm not worried about any of that...I think I'll enjoy it.

Derek Case (SingleHandedWarfare) said it was fun but he had issues.

I never played FC Napoleon so I can't comment.
This seems to be an accurate assessment of the four FC games:
https://boardgamegeek.com/article/22227540#22227540

Most complaints with Nimitz seems to be related with The Japanese AI randomness vs historical accuracy.
For me that's not an issue, and in fact being a 100% solo player, I welcome randomness.

Check the review below. The author praises a lot FC Napoleon and not so much FC Nimitz. :)
https://theboardgaminglife.com/2015/04/04/flawed-commander-nimitz-a-boardgaminglife-review/

Anyway, I've only played Nimitz once, but sooner or later it will come back to my playing table.

Apparently it was a printer issue which has now been fixed as they use a different one.

Your wife was even nice enough to give you your Christmas gift 2 months early!

A bunch of mine were the same way. I have played it and did enjoy it. Won some games, lost some games.
