The Babes Team has released a new scenario. It is called Operation FS and it has been posted on the website at: https://sites.google.com/site/dababeswitpae/5-small-scenarios/operation-sf The scenario has a 'what-if' premise, but this should pose any difficulties, since it is simply a swap of historical execution dates for historical operations. Operation FS was initially scheduled for execution in the beginning of June. It was postponed and subsequently abandoned due to the interposition of the Midway Operation and its unfortunate (for Japan) results. The ‘what if’ premise is that FS went forward as originally scheduled, and if it was insufficient to lure the Pacific Fleet carriers into an ambush, the Midway operation would immediately follow. The logic of the premise is given in an Operation Background pdf file. The Background and actual Operational Plan files are taken directly from original Japanese sources. The historical forces (land, sea, and air) that were planned for use are the ones actually involved. Allied forces and all reinforcements have the disposition they did on June 1, 1942, although a few units had their arrival dates advanced by 30 days or so because of the likelihood of their being hurried into the theater in response to perceived crisis. Apart from the premise itself, those are the only departures from historical. The intent is to present the scenario in the form of a Fleet Problem or Operational Exercise rather than a conventional AE game scenario. We also wished to impose some of the difficulties faced by the commanders of that time period. The scenario has all of the standard Babes AE data tweaks and goodies, as well as a few of its own. It is eminently suitable for PBEM. The scenario spans a time period of 9 months, from June 1, 1942, until March 1, 1943. It is substantially balanced, but has advantage swings, from one side to the other, with phased reinforcement schedules. Hope you all have fun with it. Matt
