IMPORTANT!

We are in the process of delivering the final release master for Strategic Command. Unfortunately, due to the volume and quality of feedback on single player we’ve not had the time to focus on the multiplayer testing that we wanted. Rather than release an untested multiplayer version we are going to launch the single player only version this week so those eagerly waiting can get their hands on it and we will add multiplayer as soon as we are happy with it. We expect to have a beta version of multiplayer releasing in the next week or two and the final version shortly after that. While we are aware this is not ideal we feel this is the best way to minimize any inconvenience. We are already working hard to solve it as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your patience.

That would certainly explain why we haven't seen a PBEM AAR here on the forum.
Not the best choice IMO. It's the PBEM-players who animate the forum.
Maybe you could at least provide us a PBEM AAR while we're waiting?
You can twist and tweak the AI as much as you want, it is never going to be close to the same challenge as 2-player.
Once you go PBEM, you're always PBEM!
Well anyway, I've been looking forward to the release for years now, so I guess I can wait a few more weeks.

Hello Hubert & Company....
...so with the roll out of the multiplayer.... I assume it will be as a 'patch' ... not requiring a separate game upgrade (extra cost)!? ... otherwise, will wait.
regards
Gary

Yes it will be a patch. We had hoped to have it in by release but we decided to focus on polishing the single player rather than risk untested MP. It will be free and it will be soon!

How many players is "multiplayer?" There are three of us that play the boardgame "War In Europe," each taking a side (Axis, Western Allied, and Soviet). Will that be possible in this game?

Hi Jcbeckman,

There will only be two sides in Multiplayer, Axis and Allied with the Soviets falling under the Allied side.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

Excellent question. While we're waiting, please consider keeping us warm with a real AAR - meaning of course a PBEM AAR. It is high time. While I am very pleased to see that the game reaches out to a large following, these PBEMs against the AI are not hugely interesting for veterans. So what do you say - can you get two of the beta testers to make an AAR?
Any updates Iain?

Hubert has thinking he's just a couple of days away for the last 2 weeks so we're very close. Its just proving a little tricky to nail down. I can't say for sure but we're still hoping we'll be testing it later this week or early next week to roll out a beta to you soon after.

Hello Ian.

So a friend and I are trying the work around option for playing human to human and wonder where game turn files are located? Cannot find any save folder in the game directory.

Thanks!

Hello Ian.

A friend and I are trying to play via email using the workaround suggested to do this (complete a move but don't end the turn and send the file to your opponent who ends the turn, makes his move, etc).

Trouble is, neither of us can find where turn files are stored in the game directory.

Where should we look?

Thanks

Can't do an AAR of a PBEM game when PBEM isn't implemented as of yet. I and another player will be starting an AAR immediately that PBEM++ is completed for this game. Thanks for your interest, we hope to reward it soon :)

I'd say to take your time. There are very few real bugs in the game, but the AI on Axis side needs work, especially against players that do unhistorical things.

Multiplayer is important, but a good Axis AI means double the fun playtime in single player, because you can play as Germand and as Allied then!

I am back. Still trying to make the PBEM workaround work. Thanks to you we now know where to find and save the hotseat move files. Trouble is now, we cannot open the emailed move files because the password (which we have shared with each other) does not work. That is, we type in the p/w where requested and nothing happens.

Here's the drill we are on:

Player 1 starts a hotseat game and does not end the turn. Player 1 sends the turn to Player 2 who ends the move and when prompted to select a p/w to open the next turn, enters a p/w. Player 2 then sends the move back to player one.

Have any idea what we are doing wrong here?

I had that issue when using the same password for both sides.

Hello

A friend and I are still trying to get into a human vs human game via the PBEM workaround suggested in another thread.

Here's what we are doing.

Someone else suggested that we don't use passwords but that does not work either.

SO--if the person who posted the workaround is out there, it would be just awesome if he/she could provide a step by step description of how to make this approach work. Thought the PBEM feature would have been patched in by now, but since not, am still after getting part of the way towards human vs human play.

Thanks for any tips on this from those who have made it work.

Testing has been delayed a bit.
Should have started a week ago.
No worries. It will be coming.
