Hi

I would like that my ships move inside exisiting formation to a new location. So in the formation Editor I move the
ships. But it seems the speed the ships move is always at fullspeed.... That is not good at all :-)

The only workaround is detach the ship. move manually to the new location and attach again...

anybody knows a better solution?

Can you post a file to demonstrate the issue? There are lots of reasons this could happen and a file will help us be more efficient in providing an answer.

In the real world, at least in western navies, a formation is usually defined to have a "normal" speed and a "station changing" speed - the latter not being "full" speed. In addition, as modeled in CMANO, formations often slow down to allow escorts to move to new stations (e.g. after/during a course change).

I too have noticed that station changing is done at full speed, but have not felt it to be too much of a problem.

It is a problem when you order a task force sail under the critical speed value which precipitates cavitation and there is an anticipation of a contact and an enemy sub is likely to lurk in the AoO; I had that last Saturday in "Falklands 1978" scenario, at least two RN ships responded to their new stations by speeding at their full to reach them when they were all ordered as a whole and each one separately to move at 7 knots at best.

Which is micromanaging to say the least. While I don't have anything against that I think it is justified to feel that there should be at least some level of liberty to that so you can choose if you want to do everything manually. I say if you order a task force to act in concert within given framework the paradigm should be at least they don't violate gravely certain mission assignments - for instance if there's EMCON A ordered would you deem it normal they suddenly start paint 360 degrees with some or all the sensors available just because you can turn everything off manually? Let me just remind you that that way milk may have already been spilled - while interesting in game terms - you can start the shooting and pushing your luck, in real life it is a major setback and a grave error. To me sometimes it is an utter mastery to complete a mission without a single fire shot unless the orders are for a decisive confrontation.

After years with simulations we mostly know all those this and thats to offset this and that or just do it another way, but in a simulation you expect the simulation of the procedures and not a generic approximation that you need to outguess on occasions.
