I had the disconcerting experience, as the Germans, of defeating two Russian Rifle divisions, in two locations, only to see them "retreat" forwards, further into German territory, rather than the more usual concept of retreat, back, to your own lines. They were in contact with their own lines, yet chose to head into greater danger when defeated. Is that normal?

Thanks

There are several rules determining the retreat path of a unit, checked in this order.
1st priority: Retreat to a hexagon without enemy ZOC
2nd priority: Retreat to a hexagon with few own units in it and take the way with fewest required MPs.
3nd priority: Retreat east (Soviets) or West (Axis).

It would be great if somebody could write something about the detailed order in the 2nd priority. Have the own units number or the terrain/MPs more weight?
