I have a question.

How do the Finns transport units to captured ports?

I have captured Leningrad several turn ago and I cannot transport between Helsinki and Leningrad.

I tried to make this as a separate post but it wouldn't let me for some reason, so I'll just copy paste it here:

I quickly discovered in my first "proper" game as the Soviets that it is very easy to trick the AI into concentrating it's forces in the "rump" of Romania early on by threatening to pocket the troops there, thus leaving the rest of Romania largely undefended. As this part of the country is rather flat, it is then trivial to rush a few fast cavalry, motorized, and panzer divisions to Bucharest, end a turn with a unit there, and knock Romania out of the war by turn 7 or so. This doesn't work every time, and sometimes things can backfire, but when it does you destroy a solid fifth of the Axis's army and leave a massive gaping hole in their lines with no real effort.

Has anyone else noticed this? I feel that I should probably consider it an exploit and not actually use it in my "proper" attempt at a campaign, but I'm curious to know what others think about it.

Small questions about the locked HQ option.

Did this option forever cancel automatic support unit movement between HQ ?

Or this option only lock all HQ by default, but we can still manually restore automatic movement of support unit between HQ by settings individually some HQ to unlock/support unit limit = 3 for example.

They are just locked at scenario start but you can anytime change the support limit even with locked HQs.

Its advisable once you have set the number of SU that you require in the HQ that you lock it otherwise you will find that they may transfer out & be unavailable for your next turn (that issue has been causing me no end of problems in my current game with Michael T)

Another question :

I see in lot of AAR german (and soviet) players keeping tracks of captured&destroyed factories (such as armement, HI, Vehicule, etc....).

Did this information recorded in one table somewhere inside the game ? (Such as in looses reports ? ).

The Soviet player can compare his current factory numbers with those he started the campaign with to work out losses. The Axis player has to count them as he destroys them and keep a mental or written record.

Yes, but their impact is small (few guns when compared to divisions).

Thanks for the info.
These units may still be interesting as they are available in january 1942 when no arty divisions are available. (First arty division october 1942).

Yes, unfortunately they can't be merged to make divisions later, so all experience gained is wasted.

It may be possible to merge-disband a Brigade into a division of same type at the same hex so no all experience is lost.

Small question :
If i disband a fortified zone with 3 added supports, like sapper regiments.
Did support units will be disbanded too or did the support units return to the HQ of the fortified zone (Like stavka ?).

I wonder also if a well-fortified fortified zone with 3 heavy artillery support is a good idea to defend key place (like sebastopol) or if an additional rifle division is more effective.
There are hints in the manual about artillery in fortified zone being more efficient, but i do not know if it is real.

Yes, they return to the HQ.
FR have very poor staying power, they are no match even for Axis minors. Use them only to build and preserve fortification level.

Thanks for the answer.
I was not thinking of fortified region alone but maybe with 3 203mm artillery regiments support units.
Probably too expansive for a low efficiency.

It is difficult to evaluate the efficiency of artillery in the game whatsoever as we have little feedback of how many ennemy CV were suppressed.

Several Questions:

1. How to use the searchbar in this forum? It always says that it cant find anything or the search term is too broad.

2. What are the changes for the alt cv grand campaign? Does this favour one side more?

3. How can I prevent scouting? The manual is very sparse on what plays a factor in this.

1) Something is broken, I couldn't use search function too.

2) This should be deleted. It was a scenario with more accurate method of calculating CV (strength on counters), but as of 1.09.01 it's now a game option.

3) If you mean recon flights, then not much can be done. Axis produce a lot of recon planes, Soviets are more constrained but should the need arise they can do a lot of recon too.

Thanks for the quick answer.

To 3. I dont mean recon planes, I mean ground battles. Sometimes it says "The defending forces were scouted" , which is in some cases quite unfortunate if you have a cv advantage and want to make the enemy retreat.

If you attack with too little forces, attack may be converted to scouting battle to save you some losses. It's a loss with reduced casualties.

You are actually lucky with the scouting. It means the defense was to strong but instead held you got scouted.

But its not counted as a loss so no morale drop for attacker and boost for defender.

Small question about maximum fortification :

Max fortification in swamp is 2.
Max fortification in town with port and fortified zone is 4.

How about town with port in swamp (with or without fortified zone) ?

Thanks.
Another question :
Is it at the beginning of 1943 that rifle corps price switch from 20 to 10.
Did tank corps have a similar pattern or stay at 20 ?

OK after a search in the manual i can answer my own questions.
So Yes and stay at 20.
Thanks.

Is there a way to change which unit counter is on the top of a stack? Say if I have a stack of a Panzer Division and an Infantry division, and wished to cycle between which was on top.

Unfortunately this feature exists only in WitW.
