Turn 33

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 31 MPP

Germany
We finally sink the CW submarine off Norway, good riddance. German forces take Belgrade, causing the fall of Yugoslavia. To teach them a lesson, we create Croatia. Croatia promptly joins our cause.
Pinsk still holds...

Italy
This turn we take out a Commonwealth army in Africa. We might not win here quickly, but we should win it. Well, having no clue, but maybe the Commonwealth can place units in Egypt? That would be annoying.

Allies
The USSR sends an armoured train to Pinsk, and allow the corps in the city to attack. Neither do any damage, but this city is officially annoying me now! A USSR BB appears and attack the Tirpitz. Bad idea! Damages are 2-6 in our favour.

Purchases
Germany saves 240 MPP.

Reinforcements
None.

Research
Germany finishes Industrial Technology2 and Advanced Tanks2.

Decisions/Events
Nothing.

Italy
Another outsatnding turn in Africa. Not only is a Commonwealth corps destroyed, but we also take Alexandria.

Allies
The UK secures the Persian oil fields, and the UK and the USSR eventually take Persia.
French partisans blow up stuff in Paris.
However no more land grabbing in Syria, suppose their units have been pulled into Egypt.

Purchases
Finland buys an army.
Germany saves 43 MPP, and Italy saves 44.

Reinforcements
4 German garrisons arrive in the west.

Research
Italy starts work on Ground Attack Weapons2, and Germany starts on Industrial Technology3 and Advanced Tanks3. Germany also gets a breakthrough on Advanced Aircraft2.

Decisions/Events
Apart from Malta being annoying, nothing.

Hey, things are really going your way! Special congrats on Egypt - this was a real good performance. The UK cannot directly place troops there, but they can use the special hexes in the Southern Atlantic to get units to the Red Sea fast AND (more importantly) they have lots of events giving them troops in the region. Often, they can hold you at El Alamein and the Quatara depression for a LOOONG time.

Just so you know: Pinsk is ALWAYS a pain in the ass! You can get it early with heavy tac bombing etc, but this binds just so many forces at a time when you want to push forward with all you got ...

yeah, I cannot really complain. And yes, I decided to send my planes north to secure Leningrad first. And ofc it does not help that my armies cannot advance on Pinsk in an orderly fashion either. Enemy ZoC+Morale effects+terrain makes it hard to get close to the city.

In Africa, I think what has been a blessing is the Allied attacks. Had they not done those, and just dug in, I doubt I would manage to push as I do right now.

It's a bit as if the UK had less planes in Africa as they (mostly) use to have. Maybe that's part of the reason why you could bypass El Alamein so early. On the other hand I like that the tactical AI did not just throw in the towel, but tried to cut you off and got the Ariete. I really like the AI in this game - though I'm already spoilt and want it to be even better.

Well, the AI is quite good in some aspects, but somewhat lacking in others. I find that it allows itself to be baited a little too easy.

In Africa the main issue I've had is how deadly the Allied artillery has been actually.

Turn 43

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 4 MPP

Germany
We keep attacking the UK submarine off Cuxhaven, and of course we end with bringing it down to 1 strength... In the USSR we deliberately target a fighter and a heavy tank, and destroy them both. I am somewaht concerned with our slow progress at the moment.

Italy
A CW Corps is wiped out.

Allies
The damaged submarine escapes to England. The USSR keeps building its forces, luckily their attacks do not do alot of damage, but they are bogging us down.

Purchases
Germany buys the XV Heavy Panzer, and saves 44 MPP.
Italy saves 233 MPP.

Reinforcements
The Germans place a fighter and a heavy panzer around Lublin.

Research
None.

Decisions/Events
The USSR transfers units from Siberia.
Germany is asked if they want to form 3x AT units in Warzaw, we go with yes.

Concern
The progress in the USSR. We are being bogged down more and more.

Axis losses : 0 MPP

Germany
More slugging with the USSR.
We sink a UK DD off Denmark.

Italy
Reinforcing and rearranging the units.

Allies
The USSR keeps attacking, my slight concern about this is that I never have the ability to rotate and upgrade my units, they are needed at the line.

Purchases
Germany buys a fighter, and saves 74 MPP.
Italy builds a Tactical bomber, and saves 25 MPP.

Reinforcements
The Germans place a Tactical bomber outside Lublin, and get the 3x AT units in Warzaw.

Research
None.

Decisions/Events
None.

Turn 45

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 0 MPP

Germany
We FINALLY take out the last of Tito's partisan units. Not much headway in the USSR, as we are now facing walls of units in most places, but atleast we have brought the Luftwaffe to bear, and we do remove 4-5 units per turn now, so hopefully we will thin out the herd. I hope the infaltion of the Red Army is due to those Siberians, and not from production.

Italy
Suez falls!

Allies
The attacks from the USSR keeps up, and they are now focusing on one unit at a time. That is not good, that increases the chance for losing units, something I can ill afford.

Purchases
Germany buys the XVI Heavy Panzer, and saves 74 MPP.
Italy saves 180 MPP.

Reinforcements
The Italian BB Roma arrives in Trieste, and the reborn Ariete is placed in Rome.

Research
None.

Decisions/Events
UK Commandos raid Stavanger.
Franco is impressed by the fall of Suez.
The Japanese suffer a heavy blow at Midway.

Turn 46

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 0 MPP

Germany
The DAK takes Jerusalem, this forces Palestine to surrender, and 29 MPPs are plundered. In the USSR we keep destroying enemy units, but we make little headway.

Italy
Only a CW Corps remain in Egypt now.

Allies
The USSR number are still increasing aroun D-town, and there is heavy fighting in the area D-town to Kursk. We do not lose any units, but to put things in perpective, we spent around 400 MPPs per turn to repair units now.

Purchases
Finland builds an army. I need it in the north to finish of the USSR there.
Germany saves 35 MPP.
Italy saves 75 MPP.

Reinforcements
The Egyptian Legion arrives in Cairo.

Research
Italy finishes Infantry Warfare.

Decisions/Events
Germany decide to raise the Egyptian Legion.
Karl Dönitz suggests that we send a German submarine to the Black Sea, we agree.
A Yugoslavian partisan arrives in the northern part of Yugoslavia, here we go again...

Concern
The situation in the USSR. I might lose the game there. Who knew attacking the USSR would be such a big task!?

Excellent AAR!

As a suggestion, if you could include the in game date on some of your turns instead of just "turn 32", it would be helpful for some of us newbs that don't equate what date each turn is associated with.

That you can't roflstomp the USSR in the 1942 offensive is actually a good thing - not for you, but for the game. Having won Egypt and the Middle East will win you this war, though.

Italy
Not much goes on for Italy, I am considering buying all their aerial units as those seems most usable to me right now.

Allies
The USSR are still doing their best to force me away from D-town, but as long as their attacks are of the 0-1 type, I am happy to take it.

Purchases
I want Spain in this as well, Germany buys 2 diplochits, and Italy one.
Italy buys one Tactical bomber and save 43 MPP.

Reinforcements
Germany places the 3rd Heavy Panzer outside VIENNA by mistake...

Hi terje - I am enjoying your AAR. Two things:

1. Have you had any rough weather effects affecting your Kriegsmarine or Regia Marina units?

2. A bit of encouragement for you

Turn 48, July 19th 1942

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 0 MPP

Germany
The Fins are making better progress than Germany at the moment...

Italy
We keep pushing in the Middle East, but gee, what are artillery units made up of? Few things that are harder to kill than those.

Allies
The USSR seem hell bent on wiping out the 16th Panzergrenadier, as no less than 5 attacks are made on this unit, leaving it with 3 points of strength.

Turn 49, August 2nd 5th 1942

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 0 MPP

Germany
We keep killing USSR units, and we inch foreward a few hexes at a time.

Italy
Those Commonwealth artillery pieces must be commanded by Superman and Captain America... We do get Transjordan to surrender, granting Italy a whopping 16 MPPs of plunder.

Allies
It seems the wind has gone out of the USSR, fewer attacks this turn, and none make any real impact.

Purchases
Italy orders a fighter, and saves 25 MPP, Germany saves their last 53 MPP.

Reinforcements
None.

Research
Germany starts Advanced Aircraft4.
Italy finishes Ground Attack Weapons2.

Decisions/Events
The Allies influence Turkey by 13%.

Concern
My intel shows me US troops heading across the Atlantic, where will they land? My guess is a pretty historic Torch...

Turn 50, August 16th 1942

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 0 MPP

Germany
This might be the turn that ended the stalemate in the USSR. We kill 7 units, including a VERY annoying fighter, and we also take some key hexes.

Italy
Artillery pieces are gone at last, now the DAK and the Italians part ways.

Allies
YES! The USSR must be running low on units, because where as they would earlier repair wounded units and fill gaps with fresh units, the wounded units now have to fill the gaps in their line. Only a handful of USSR attacks are made, but north of Leningrad, an USSR paratrooper threathens to cut off the entire Finish army. The Fins will have to fall back.

Purchases
Germany buys the XIX Heavy Panzer, as well as 2 diplochits for Turkey, I do not want Turkey to join the Allies.
Italy saves it 204 MPP to buy more aerial units next turn (also, they can only have 3 diplochits in play at any time).

Reinforcements
Germany places the XIV Heavy Panzer outside Lublin.

Research
Both Italy and Germany finishes Production Technology3.

Decisions/Events
Oh oh...
Brazil DoWs us.

Concern
The US landing. Where?

Hi terje - I am enjoying your AAR. Two things:

1. Have you had any rough weather effects affecting your Kriegsmarine or Regia Marina units?

2. A bit of encouragement for you

Thank you

1. yes, not too often but I think the KM has been hit 3 times and the RM 1 time. Not a big deal, although I did not expect the Adriatic to have waves that would damage a BB.

2. Thank you, The Impossible Girl is NEVER wrong

Terje
