Thanks and I figured out that the pirates mainly use family 22-26 and a few use random ones and one uses 10.

I like using his "THE THIRD SHIPSET" for myself when I play as the humans but since the latest DW:U the scaling is all "off" so the engine thrusters and running lights do no appear in the right places, and even sometime show up double in weird locations. So through some painful trial and error I've tried to correct them for this set.

I will upload more revisions as I make them.

I still probably have some more to do but here is the set at least mostly "fixed", in case anyone likes using that one. I'm sure his other shipsets are messed up as well, but I can only do one at a time as I use them because it's pretty labor intensive since nothing lines up correctly anymore.

I really wish they'd fix this scaling problem!

v3 uploaded. I think I finally fixed them all, what a pain in the butt!

I think I finally fixed all of the "THE THIRD SHIPSET", posted above. Super annoying to fix because of the engine and running light rendering bugs!

Try opening up the vanilla image folder for weapons, the naming for the files is radically different, you will need to rename the files to get them to work.
As for the "torpedo_8", there is no torpedo_8 in the vanilla set, so you must be using a custom theme? if so just rename the file you want for torpedo_8, and go from there, there are twelve files in the zip for torpedoes, five more than vanilla so it should be fairly straight forward to rename them to follow Universe naming conventions.

I thought pirates only used ships from the minor sets?

I think you are looking for the Chocolate Shipset which was on gamefront.....

If so look on this page 6 posts before yours and you will see a dropbox to those files with the link link by ehsumrell1

FYI -- I got this to work (third ship set) with current 2019 Steam version, trick is the directory to put the images in is:

wherever-on-your-computer: Distant Worlds Universe\images\units\ships

I installed it for humans which in my case worked out to be family6.

Wonderful designs, makes a old Homeworld guy happy.
