After reading John III/Canoerebel's excellent twinned AARs I jumped in and asked for a copy of WITP:AE for Christmas... and Santa came through. I've poked around the Coral Sea scenario a bit in between family stuff, but I may actually have time to play a little over the next couple days.

Questions:

- Updates - based on file size, I assume I need the v.1.01.24 update first, then I install the v.1.01.26 beta over that. Is the beta necessary, what does it add, and how stable is it?

- Is there a way to adjust zoom on the tactical map, other than buying a higher-res monitor (current is 1920 x 1080)? I searched the manual and the forums, and I didn't find anything.

The betas are extremely stable and really represent unofficial patches.

There is a very long list on the beta page of all the upgrades and fixes added by the cumulative beta.

There is NO zoom function in the game engine.

I tend to play at low res for this reason as I have very bad vision and high res makes things too tiny.
