Having a blast, but can't seem to figure out the fastest way to tell if a unit has a HQ "attached".

Obviously I can click on a HQ and eyeball it, but on a dense front like the Eastern one, it's not easy to see if more HQs are required.

I don´t think there´s any other way that to click on the units.

If a unit is attached to a HQ, that HQ will be highlighted when the unit is selected. If its not highlighted, you can click on the nearest HQ, change its mode to manual which will show in blue those units in range but not attached and those in yellow (manual calls it green I think) that are. You can then choose to detach and attach as you prefer. This assumes that you haven't turned off the default show HQ attachments in the Advanced rules.

Would be nice if the counters had some symbol to show whether a unit is attached to an HQ, perhaps with some colour coding associated with each HQ unit.

Yup, this.

I'm loving the game, but feels like a lot of the interface quirks from the original SC2 are still here.

I agree, one should be able to identify a specific HQs attached units, colourcoding is a good idea. Too much hassle now; not very elegant, in an otherwise elegant and great game!

+1 for the idea! I vote for a symbol. More color(s) would make it difficult to see for some.

Maybe have an option for same colour always (i.e. green) or different for each HQ (like CEAW-GS). I would prefer the latter, though.
