Thanks Daon for your suggestion, I may separate Planes Typo as you did (like T on left and B on right for Tactical Bomber) its a good idea.
For others units I will try as follow on screenshot (increasing Fonts for better reading)
Anyway not that much pixels to work on....
Increased fonts on left units as comparison

Another suggestion:
To better differentiate Corps and Armies , why not put the symbol Nato of the armies in white

Another idea to diff Corps and Armies on the small zoom level would be to simply remove the XXX above the Corps altogether.

This would make it obvious at a glance.

Hi. Thank you very much for this mod, great work.

I've installed the mod and all seems to work fine except that red Army still has the old counters (is played by the AI). I thought Red Army was modded as well, is not? British Army for example is ok but not the Read Army ones.

By the way, I don't like the counter for motorised units you use (the truck icon seems they are more like a transport unit). I think would be better something like this:


A Sonderkraftfahrzeug icon for the motorised units would be far better.

You must put the file unit sprites nato (major 04)in the bitmaps folder of EACH campaign (major 04)

Hello Haplo_Patryn,

My first intention for Units in general was to display early war weapons for Tech 0

Eg germans:

Motorized Infantry tech0 is an OPEL blitz truck
Motorized Infantry tech1 is an Halftrack

AT gun tech0 is a PAK36
AT gun tech1 is a PAK38 50mm

ect...

This is something I want to do in next version(s) of the MOD
But it will require a lot of silhouettes to proceed.

The reason of MAJOR04 (Red Army) display is I believe due to shock Army specific unit.

On the same post (shliterine ... "need some airplanes"), you can now see a screen of my modified version
In this version the planes are sprites which evolve with the technical advances

And since I no longer needed the round markers I use them for HQ like that I see their placement on the map immediately

Hello Daon,

I like the 6 PZs tech.
On other hand I dont like so much the mix between Sprite planes and land counters, just a question of taste.
Maybe you should start a MOD with all "3D" sprites, actually nobody did try yet to improve the current 3D sprites there.

Yes I think I will do a 3 D version with the same vehicles

Me what I like with these planes is that they evolve and also that they are seen immediately, they do not get confused with the other counters

I just added the 6 HT on the forum

To have 6 , I have to consider the Panthers like heavy
4 Pz V and 2 Tigers

Was just a personnal comment and taste....
Your Airplane counters are nice, and its a good idea to add Skyline.

For those who would like to have an evolutionary version of the planes
They can mark names on the counters , something like this :



6 fighters
4TB ; 4 MB ; 6 ST and 6 "sea"

Amazing work Sipres!

If there was a wish I had for either the Original developers or Modders would be to include historical unit names for the standard start of scenarios/campaigns. That would bring these games to another level of realism in regards to actual start of battles order of battle historical settings.

After that players can diverge into all their personal choices for unit purchases without names. Just a thought.

And I like the idea of a rounded counter for Air Units too.

I am playing Soviet, but still getting Nato symbols like Jamper89 after putting unit_sprites_nato into Major_04. All others work fine.

Hello Rosseau,

Do you play a custom campaign?
The problem I have seen is every time you create a new campaign, the game engine will automatically copy Major_04 folder with the original game sprite (and then overwrite the moded file).

The reason is I believe due to shock Army counter design wich is specific to red army.

Try to copy again the Modded unit_sprites_nato into Major_04 and make sure you are in the correct campaign folder.
