Rico, thanks for the first Arnhem scenario , but I think there is a missing 88: I killed two crews (2 VP) and took the VP hex (1 VP) at the end of turn #4, getting a Minor Victory. I spent turns #5 and #6 walking around the whole map, but I didn't find a third 88. Is this a bug or a feature?

The last one is placed randomly on one of the several sites chosen by me, you have not had any luck, you have missed it, you have (almost) lost and therefore I have won

First scenario of the campaign.

fortunately I found all three 88`s.
One very early , caused all sorts of problems , I never managed to take that one.
Infantry defending it was well placed :(.
The 2nd 88 opened fire a few turns in and I had a bit of luck breaking the crew and then routing them.
While routing them the 3rd 88 opened fire revealing it`s position .
At this point the turns were starting to run short :) .
Then OOC kicked in and the 3rd 88 went AWOL ,
A mad rush ensued and the close combat took out that crew . The one VP point went on the same turn.
Minor victory ,due to a lot of luck , but for me that first 88 with its infantry support was absolutely
devastating .

Bloody good fun Rico ,
looking forward to the campaign

They are coming down the road, with some help from Easy Company...

P.S. [Possible Bug] I only managed to score 16 VPs, but the game has awarded me with a Major Victory (which should require 17 VPs). The [censored] surviving German squad killed a B* leader, a squad and a half-squad, and also generated a D* leader in the very last CC Segment .

Hey guys UP844 says he took the bridge of Arnhem all by himself
and he wants to remove the tea break
Regarding the major victory with 16 points, he forgot that the side B (American) did not
need only 15 points.

The 2nd Para took the bridge, and the chaps would like not being left on their own like they were at Primosole bridge last year...

Rico, you are right: I read the wrong VP column .

Of the four Arnhem scenarios released so far, "Devil's Hill" is by far the toughest one: I played it several times but never managed to win . The best result I achieved was taking all the VP hexes, but I suffered so many casualties I was easily wiped out by the German counterattack.

Keep up the good work!

A late train to Arnhem... this is one of the toughest scenarios I ever played :inchino:

Both the Guards and the Screaming Eagles did their best, slaughtering all the Germans (only a broken squad remained on the map at the end of the game) but it was not enough. Despite a fair amount of luck (the two Shermans shown in the screenshot moved over the bridge and killed the German MG in the southern VP building in the immediately subsequent Advancing Firesegment on turn #4), I only managed to get a Draw. Most of the infantry on the bridge became OOC in the last turn; the only non-OOC squad only managed to come within 1 hex from a VP hex and the Shermans had not enough MP to enter the building hexes.

Well done, Rico!

Devil`s Hill - 2nd scenario .

Good fun, I was lucky.
1 officer and 2 half-squads were all I had left in good order :)
First time doing this , so please forgive my paint work .

1 - only good order officer
2 - half squad in good order , with broken units
3 - broken units
4 - half squad with bazooka in good order with broken units
5 - a stack of german squads about to cause all sorts of problems if there were more turns .

I already have plenty of psychopathic friends, ... it does not bother me to have new friends fortunate.
In the second scenario Devil's Hill, what is the better tactic, attack first the MGs or the Gun?
Thanks all for your support!

I don't know. The Infantry Gun is much easier to deal with than the two MGs in the south: taking the northern VP hexes is quite easy (holding them is another story ). The trench will also provide good cover to fire on the MGs and support a southern attack, but it will also be subject to fire from the MGs and from the half-tracks. In fact, so far I have been invariably beaten to a pulp by the AI.

The next time I'm going to try a southern attack, even though I'm not very fond of an uphill charge against entrenched MGs. On the other hand, given the very short duration of the scenario, there's no time for tactical finesse.

Thank you for all these scenarios!

I tried a stealthy approach through the woods, but as soon as my squads became exposed to the MGs the southern attack turned in a bloodbath.

The [Censored] B** leader and his [Censored] HMG killed (not CR'ed, not broke) four squads and a B* leader in the German fire segment of the second turn. The other [Censored] leader and his [Censored] MMG only managed to break two other squads and a B* leader.

In the first two turns, I carefully manouvered through the woods, remaining out of LOS. Then I advanced at the end of the second turn, taking care to keep the leaders, MMG and Bazookas in woods hexes. I thought I would have to endure some losses in the German Fire Segment, but I never expected 75% losses. My return fire, of course, had no effect at all .

I think next time I will try an all-northern attack.

P.S. Rico, there is a "U.S. setup zone 2" hex in 9,25, no US units are allowed to set up in Zone 2.

In this case Add units AI control only (platoon + officer) to boost AI Attack.
In other case, to make believe false reinforcements.
Do not forget, I'm a devious cook !!!

That is interesting , the pic above was my first run at the scenario , so I had no idea of what was where .
I stacked the American forces in the north and south setup zones .
When I did come across the mg`s and mortar I wasn't really in a position to decide which was the best target:)
It became a choice of take them all or nothing :)

The german reinforcement`s were well done , I went from breathing a sigh of relief in taking those VP`s,
to cursing Rico in one turn .

The Arnhem campaign so far, without been completed, has shown how challenging ToTH can be.
Maybe there are problems with the AI etc , but this campaign is `kick ass ` hard :)
