Turn 2

Serbia

This is an on-going match and will tend to be a long AAR.. opnn and I switched sides, mind you he is out for revenge and I might add, a very good player.

He's wasting no time going after Belgrade, I'll be on defense the whole time here.. Swapped positions with cav and SG, repaired 4 units and bombarded Sarajevo, also moved some units around..

Turn 4

Serbia

The Serbs are taking a pounding as well as losing PP and efficiency. Managed to zero-out AH PP at Cattaro and Sarajevo. Repaired 5 units and received a fresh garrison southwest of Kraljevo.

Turn 5

Serbia

Saw an opportunity to smash a AH garrison and force it to retreat.. Swapped-out infantry at Belgrade plus repairs. Cav spotted a German artillery up north, also a new AH infantry. It's going to get rough here..

Turn 5

Warsaw

We are at turn 18 atm, much has happened since this turn (5), so at times my recollection of what happened here on the map tends to get a little foggy and less detailed, at least it gives the reader some idea of what is going on. So please excuse some of my mistakes for there are going to be a lot of SS (screenshots) reproduced ,edited and so forth here.

My primary goal here is to protect Warsaw, however it will weaken the Kovno-Vilna region, I'll have to wait and see how opnn reacts. I consider his setup to be aggressive, not all start this way, however if executed right can push back Russia considerably, but at the same time distances CP from reinforcement cities... Russia has attacked enough to attain it's first general.

Transports

French garrison from Corsica is in position to disembark next turn with escort protection, next turn the Malta English garrison will occupy the same hex as the French garrison.

Turn 5

Transport

There are a couple of routes to guide this African French infantry to reach Serbia. Chose to travel in green dot hexes by Malta with escorts, only for the reason that I do not know where the AH sub is? And if attacked at present location, the AH sub is sure to receive damage from counter attacks..

Turn 5

France

As you can see, the Germans are heading for Paris, it's my job to slow them down. Repaired 3 units (in green circles) and deployed 4 fresh garrisons from queue (lavender circles). Since I have limited forces in North west France the best I can do is crowd the invasion corridor and reinforce Paris, none of these units are very strong.. Pulled back from the hexes north of Verdun and railed an infantry to just outside Paris with a loss of 1 efficiency.. English transport is positioned to disembark next turn. In the course of giving the Belgians seaside supply for their units (just in case they get cut off) my fleets discovered enemy subs in my green dot sea-hexes, then went on the attack, scoring damage to subs, however no knock-out blows. Occasionally German subs can be found side by side between Calais and Antwerp, depending on a player's style of play, but not always the case.. Germany would love to have the Belgians at half supply, if a E player is not paying attention to this the Germans will have an easy victory there..

i gave u just hint, to have at least chance to slow me down

france is the key to the whole war, serbia is just good as cannon fodder, its able to stand up as long as its needed without any foreign intervention

Hello nehi

I can see where your strategy has merit and have seen where my France has crumbled into oblivion while French units are in Serbia, however most of the time my France holds Paris, although for a number of turns struggles to stay relevant while suffering from huge casualties. I'll keep in mind your thoughts..

Turn 6

France

It looks as though the German offensive to take Paris has stalled, yet still potent. The English have landed in France cutting off the German cav in Rouen, plus English dreadnaughts pounded German cav units. Deployed fresh French garrisons near Verdun while railing a French infantry in front of Paris. Decided to have Joffre's units to do a frontal attack on Hindenburg's cav with artillery support. French fighters downed one German fighter and 2 French units repaired in green circles. Calais is in full supply by English fleets. I don't know for sure if it does any good (Placed English fleets to block English Channel)? Again, the Entente units are weak compared to the Germans, although the French can be handily be reinforced.

Turn 6

Serbia

Serbia in under pressure to give up ground, but is stubbornly holding onto Belgrade. Swapped a couple of units and withdrew infantry to second line of defense and moved positioned artillery to hit either Cattaro or Sarajevo.. Without cav cannot see beyond front lines for AH artillery placement. AH has a lot of units on this front, which is a good thing for the Russians..

Turn 6

Warsaw

Most of what goes on here is to strengthen the capital of Warsaw and flanks of Novo-Georgievsk. AH is moving to take Brest-Levosk, which I am not terribly worried about losing or defending, although did swap with defenders, just in case they go surrounded. To the south-west of Warsaw took a shot at knocking out a German garrison now that I have a decent general in Novo-Georgievsk. The Russian armored train has a good defense rating so moved it to an exposed hex to the east of the city next to a cav that is under repair, the rivers there afford some protection. Can't remember if a German garrison got wiped out to the north of Warsaw, however in any case my cav gave me a look at Danzig and Koenigsberg.. May have lost a garrison where the red is, not sure(?). Air attacked the lead German infantry and advanced my infantry to crowd Germans from moving towards Vilna and offer a buffer for the Russian fighters..

Turn 7

Serbia

Belgrade is still holding, likely not for long, many units are suffering efficiency loss. Railed Belgrade infantry to Nis while moving a garrison into the capital, this is not good.. Repaired 2 units and attacked with an infantry and artillery a AH infantry to the weak side of Belgrade, causing some damage, also attacked Cattaro to knock it's production to zero.. There seems to be 2 artilleries and at least 2 fighters squadrons near the orange circle, it is sometimes tough to judge during replay..

Turn 7

Vilna

This is the early stage of forming a front, once units are in position bide time to entrench with minimal attacks. Russia at this time needs techs & MP to hold the line.

Turn 7

France

A lot of action here. Repaired 4 units and 2 fresh units deployed I in Paris, I south of Paris, also a English infantry is on the way. The English navy pounded German positions up and down the coast scoring hits.. Destroyed German cav (red circle) to northeast of Paris with infantry and artillery capturing hex. Calais has been under siege and the nearby English is repairing. Lost a French SG (small garrison) east of Rouen. I can see that the Germans are a bit thin over by Nancy so went on the attack there, mainly as a distraction that might draw his forces away from Paris. French fighters with no losses shot down a German fighter. Also Verdun infantry harassed adjacent German garrison. I think the problem for the Germans in this picture is getting fresh reinforcements, cause the constant action is starting to take it's toll on them, I could be wrong, but I do know one thing: opnn is not going to get Paris anytime soon..!

Turn 7

Warsaw

Defense of Warsaw: Disbanded a damaged garrison to south of the city then deployed a fresh garrison right in the heart city with a cav hugging it's south side.. Put a whooping on a German garrison to the north of Georgievsk. 5 units are under repair, one 5 strength cav to the north could not be moved, it's in poor condition with few choices of where to go. Lost a under-size weak garrison to the west of Brest-Livtosk, but was able to deploy a fresh garrison to the east of this city/fort. Railed an infantry to Vinnytsia and attacked AH garrison to garrison. It's pretty evident that opnn is trying to corral the entire Warsaw complex with a gazillion units, which I'm sure cost him plenty. Russia is busy building up it's forces too, will have to see how this all shakes out..

Turn 9

Serbia

Last turn lost Belgrade. Serbia is getting by for now with just a few PP, there is help arriving from the French and English, they won't give an offensive advantage, certainly will help on defense. The longer I can hold out the better the chances are for Italy and depriving AH from railing units to the Eastern Front.. Where AH has only one rail management point, it's difficult to move a whole army to other locations... Repaired 4 units, hoping to get infantry by Nis back into the front line..

Actually opnn does very well in his Serbian campaign, as you will see in later posts. He also does make progress in France and Belgium to a point. I'm willing to bet he is getting a little frustrated right now atm. By no means is this match a done deal..

thats it, pushing serbians and russians instead of french, just temporary and pyrrhic victory

cp are not able to fight all fronts, they have to choose one, and shut them down one by one

Turn 9

Baltic

This is the start of a fairly long drawn out battle for naval dominance of Baltic. Germany struck first, I believe to try and entice my dreadnaught into a fight, There's just no way that is going to happen yet. German dreadnaughts and a pre-dreadnaught converged on my flagship causing a 2 strength loss, same losses for them too, my armored cruiser stuck back at a German sub fleet causing a 3 strength loss to my none. Two factors where in my favor from the start: 1. He had no admiral deployed (attached), I did, admiral had a high defense rating. 2. Green dots in sea hexes also give the Russian fleets greater defense and offense advantages. Began repairs on the Fleet at Tallinn port.

Turn 9

Kovno-Vilna

Defensive line taking shape around Kovno and Vilna. The Russians are horrible at attacking German units, especially if they entrenched, they are somewhat even if the Russians are entrenched with commander support. I'm waiting for additional reinforcements to hopefully go on the offensive here, or extend my defensive line. Did harrying attacks to keep the Germans off balance. In 4 turns it will be winter.

Turn 9

Warsaw-Galicia

Commenced attacks around Warsaw where the enemy had not entrenched yet for the most part. For opnn to contain Warsaw he has to employ 12 units (24 PP) to my 7 (19 PP), plus he has to keep up with battle damage repairs. Changed positions at Brest-Livosk to assault and force a retreat of AH garrison to south west and from the safety of the fort damaged another AH garrison to the north west. Repaired 4 other units. Now have commanders at Novo-Georgievsk, Brest-Litovsk and Kovno.. Can see where CP is bringing in more units to these regions, on the plus side I know it is eating up his production for upkeep.. This area might look stable, but it is still in flux.

Turn 9

France

It's a back and forth from both sides with small battles across this front. Repaired 5 units maybe 6, for I think that the French infantry in Paris is a new arrival from production. Balloons deployed in England, these balloons change the scope of this front, with visibility, range and movement.. With a few more infantry at this front, I'd say that France will not be a lost cause and look to the day when it can go on the offensive..

You watch, opnn has some moves yet posted at this front.. Don't forget that this match is not one that is going to be over in 10 to 15 turns, which is just fine with me, sure opnn would have liked to have had Paris by now, or be right next to it, he knows the consequences as you point out..
