Then use hot seat as a substitute. Simply email the hot seat autosave file (plus datafile if produced) to your opponent after ending your turn time in hot seat by using Task manager to quit the program after supply calculation takes place.

The game cannot be played with passwords as there is a bug in Hot Seat which means passwords are not recognised for the following turn thereby forcing the game to be halted. This requires trust between opponents as the absence of the password entry screen means that task manager is being used when the summary screen for your opponents turn has appeared. One other feature which I assume applies to the hot seat itself is that there is no replay so you are reliant on the summary screens for detail information plus whatever information the players agree to provide to one another regarding the turn played. Other than this it works fine as a multiplayer substitute.

Think we're all looking forward to MP, will play very differently from SP! Would still like to see some AI improvements, though, as MP is not always convenienent

Leaving aside any game fixes or enhancements that are included in the patch, the only difference I can think of would be a replay feature and using the matrix server.

(Edit) Sorry I thought you were comparing this use of hot seat and multiplayer.

Sounds like a good substitute for MP till the patch comes out.

I'm willing to give it a try if anyone else is interested. I happen to have time on my hands for the next 3 weeks.

Not allowing reloads, or at least showing a reload count would be nice for MP...

I'm pretty sure the older games showed a reload count. Are you saying that feature is not in this one?

I'm of course am referring to a regular PBEM game, not this work around.

No idea, but it wasn't in CEAW-GS, which made it prone to opponents reloading a result they didn't like or if naval unit got surprised by something...

The real beauty of SC will reveal itself when multi-player is rolled out, but be forewarned there is nothing to prevent cheating, there will always be a way, if there is a will.

My suggestion is don't worry about it and just play, its a game after all, don't let the thought ruin the fun that PBEM is.

Yes, amen.

But we should never forget the victim that was apparently sacrificed for the new idol "PBEM": My beloved LAN multiplayer!

Hi all

If you're playing hotseat and want to watch your opponent's turn replay, when he sends you the turn instead of placing the save file in:
Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe\Multiplayer\Hotseat
Place it in:
Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe\Multiplayer\PBEM++

When I saved the turn overwriting the previous turn name I got a CTD, but loading the autosave worked for me and I could watch the replay.

Hope it works for you out there playing hotseat until PBEM++ is released.
