Might make some of us forget about World In Flames until they finally include an AI.

I forgot about that minute they announced there would not be an AI. Worst wargaming decision ever.

When you look back on the Strategic Command 2 series, you will find out that there was first a Pacific game, and later several (!) Global Map games.
So I guess it is safe to say that we will at least see a Global Map one day. Not sure about the Pacific game, though.
From my experience there is no need for a Pacific only map once you get a Global Map.

No point in a global version until they make the AI smart enough to handle invasions. So far as I know no one has ever managed an AI that could recognize good invasion opportunities as part of a flexible war plan.

HI Auchinleck shakes me up when someone mentions World in Flames as I have personally been one of the beta testers there since sround 2010. The game was released un-ready, no excuses it was not ready and some beta testers told Matrix it was not ready in November 2013 when it was released.

I've had some health changes and not capable of helping there anymore, but I check in when I can, Steve and the truly wonderful beta testers that are left are still working hard on the game. They are working hard on the netplay portion of the game, how long that will take is beyond me.

I believe that the AI is years in the future if ever, the game is terribly difficult to program.

Hi Xwormwood, I understand your feelings about not needing a Pacific game when you have a global game, one of the great features IMO of WIF was the 2 map solution, It's called concentration [which I am poor at] the global war in WIF
reminded me of a game Pacific war which it seems no one ever finished, just kidding not sure of that but very long and very complicated.

I have Hubert's Pacific game and I found it enjoyable except for what I consider a very poor AI, but if the new AI was put back into a new version of Strategic Commands Pacific theater it just might become a great game for Hubert, Bill and Matrix and more important the loyal posters and players at Matrix.

Hi Bo.
I own a board game called The Great War in Europe (mini-monster game, by Ted Raicer).
This game offers two maps (even though it was about WW1 in Europe):

one map for the Western Front, and one map for the Eastern Front.

The beauty of it Is that (in a 2 Player Game) you were always able to plan your turn, while your opponent did the same on the other map.
Once ready both players played together through the western and eastern map. There was no down time where one player had nothing to do.
Such a solution would work wonders when you think about waiting for the AI. Imagine the AI would plan its turn in the Atlantic while you play your turn in the Pacific.
Once you're done, you watch the conclusion (not the planing & thinking!) of the AI, and you change sides.

I really can't wait for WW1 to come out. SCWW1 was my favorite, but... tiles. I even played a lot of SC1 just because it has hexes (and because the colors are so pretty lol). So yeah, I hope they do WW1 first.
