Having started a new game in Pre-Warp, I was zoomed in on an explorer approaching the abandoned frigate, while my other explorer approached the ruin with the Storehouse of Ancient Knowledge.

I got the usual message that the frigate's mission was too important to let someone jeopardize it, clicked on the button to investigate the ship, and found myself reading the other standard message that the information in the Storehouse of Ancient Knowledge was difficult to decipher but that I could start researching warp precursors.

Checking the stored messages, from top to bottom they come in the order

Storehouse of Ancient Knowledge (found at the Pyramid of Lambda Minor)
Abandoned Ship Encountered
Pyramid of Lambda Minor

So the discoveries really were effectively simultaneous, although I never saw the message about approaching the Pyramid. Perhaps it was hidden behind the one about discovering the frigate?

So far so amusing, but the frigate now insists on remaining resolutely abandoned and not allowing me to claim it for the glory of my fledgling empire.
