ORIGINAL: Jorge_Stanbury I don't think Lex needs to rearm/ refuel yet, and Guam is one of the worst places to do so... as it invites all sort of nasty surprises like Japanese mines, midgets or a SCTF covering the landings, knowing that KB is far away, and that you are constrained for land base assets, I would not worry too much about the air threat yet, and I would put a lot more weight to the other threats: surface, submarine, mines Jorge, I think you are right. I did some rough fuel calculations, assuming a 10,000 fuel bunker on the Lex (?) and with the heavy cruisers present, I don't think the TF will be starved for fuel, unless they made a flank speed run which I doubt. Guam has I recall only a piddling base force, I think. Recon bears that out, and no way can she stand a day's attack by 120 AV plus. i doubt Guam has more than 2000 fuel anyhow given her small size. Obvert knows this area is lacking in subs and HQa...and he knows the KB is at Pearl. The Taiyo and 27 Kates are at Bad...Allies have DL of at least 1 on most of my surface groups. I think he is planning to strike at Truk next...there are quite a few ships in port there and only 9 fighters to protect them...plus the chance I scatter. But the Mutsu stands between the two.... Still can't decide how aggressive I should be. Input anyone else?
