Hi guys,

Are the stats abbreviations & mechanics somewhere explained in the manual? They appear quite cryptic to me.

1. What is the meaning of:
HD = 4-2 (+1.5DB)

Hard Defense = 4 -2 (where is -2 coming from?) (+1.5DB) What's DB?

2. Another one:
-35% TA=5-2=3

TA=Tank attack, and I am getting a -35% modifier due to a river, but is the -35% applied before or after the TA=3?

3. ND=1 0(1)20%

Naval defense is likely to attack the resource by 0, the unit by 1 and the vessel has a 20% chance to evade? Shouldn't the brackets () appear by the attacking odds? Don't they relate to the resource attack? Why they appear by the defenders odds?

4. Why isn't the attacker rolling an attack against the defender's defense, and the defender rolling an attack against the attackers defense? It seems that there is only a roll of the attacker against the defenders defense with some strange (-2) modifier.

Please let me know, if you've figured these out.

DB = Defense Bonus.

The target types and other unit values are listed on page 20 of the Manual, albeit without the abbreviations but they should make sense in context.

I'd have to see the actual example to understand what the minuses represent, but there are penalties for example for attacking across a river, and bonuses for defending most terrain types that will affect the combat.

35% of the overall factors.

The 20% chance is the chance to damage the unit occupying the resource, hence its proximity to the (1) in the example above.

That's right because the attacker is attacking and the defender's capacity to withstand, even repel, the attack is being tested.
