Just learned that KG Erwin (Glenn Higginbotham), a long time member of this forum, passed away 03March2017. He was a big time wargamer and baseball lover that used to post here quite a bit. God Bless and Good Journey, Glenn.

Seems he hadn't posted a thread etc for over a year. I also remember not to long ago he posted about his Dad having a heart attack, shows how young he was:(. If I remember he was pretty active with SPWAW.

I do think this should be a little reminder to all of us here to be more aware of a regular seeming to suddenly stop posting. So one of us can try and reach out just to show we care.

I remember his posts. He was always polite. Way too young to die. Sad.

Sad to hear. I valued his posts as I do many others. I can picture the avatar he used right now, too.

From memory he admitted to a drinking problem on the forum. That takes guts.

I was thinking the other day about the Matrix World in Flames forum. That started in about 2004 and, although the game is playable, it's not finished. I've noticed a lot of guys who posted early on, don't anymore. Obviously there are various reasons for that but I wonder how many people have just dropped off the twig? Wargamers are often older folk anyway. About 13 years of development is going to be too long for some Hopefully Steve's health holds up

Cheers, Neilster

I'm saddened to hear of his passing. He seemed a decent guy who was always passionate about playing either the Germans or the USMC in SPWAW. I was thinking about him just a few days ago, I figured he found a different hobby to enjoy in his retirement. He'll be missed!

Rest in peace, Glenn. You will be missed.

I found his obituary in the Charleston Gazette-Mail. There is also a Find a Grave memorial for him.

I fondly remember "Gunny" in the SPWAW forum. He was pursuing the long campaign with the U.S. Marines. I always enjoyed his posts. I did a sort of AAR with a character in it called Gunny. I recall that he liked it very much.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Every day is a gift, that's why they call it the present.

That's one thing I remember him the most for - wanting a USMC campaign in every game. That and his love for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was a big Baseball Sim guy. I discussed Puresim Baseball with him many times and he used to post AARs on his beloved Dodgers team he managed.

BTW, I still agree with him. We need more USMC scenarios and campaigns.

That's a good thought. I think we should all realize we have a wonderful community and any time we lose anyone it is definitely a loss.
