Looking much better along the north coast of NG. I take it Rabaul is neutralized. How many in that POW camp?

Hello Mr BB, Rabaul looks like the IJA 48th Division, reinforced. I have to check "monkey" to get the support units. I am subjecting them to battleship
gunnery school training often. On August 1st, its presently the 3rd, they took heavy casualties, about 1200. I have not written much as the turns are
taking a long time. Organizing amphibious groups for the big push to the "inner ring". The war in the east has moved to the southern tip of Burma and Thailand.
The air war in this theater is brutal, with good days and bad.

You are so right! The Lighting with realistic R&D off was obsolete within a week. The 16th fighter squadron, 51st group, again leads the way
for me. They are closing on 700 kills, with my leading ace claiming 37 in the squadron. Three pilots have reached the 90's EXP and several others
are closing on the mark. Fingers crossed. They have flown both versions thus far of the P47 and anxiously await the next.

One of these days or years, I'll get to play with the P-51s. Haven't gotten past April '44 yet.

But why would you do that? There's no benefit to putting an LCU into another unrestricted HQ. HQ and preparation bonuses are irrespective of what HQs the units are attached to. AFAIK, the only time HQs matter like that is with air units and coordination between air groups.

My reason for wanting to form units under amphibious HQ is strictly organizational and operational. I am home for a quick bite to eat so cannot elaborate to much now. I do not want to do this for a "tactical advantage" though.

Makes sense. IMO they should make it free to switch land units between unrestricted HQs. I mean if there is no advantage to having a unit in a particular HQ why make the player use PP to switch it? They only do it for their own organizational preferences.

This is my thought as well. Once you've paid to un-restrict a unit, it should be possible to assign it to any other un-restricted HQ for free. Just something that wasn't able to be incorporated during development I guess.

I thought it was "cheaper" to switch HQ within theater......

Alfred?

You rangggggg........

What exactly is the situation involving the Marine unit.

There are PP discounts but the system was never fully finished in development and straight out cheating loopholes (to paraphrase the devs who used more colourful language) exist.

I tend to buy out units, particularly early, to theater commands, then on to more specific commands later in the war, like now. It is purely
for my organizational purposes. I would like to have my amphib. corps with a "tree" of basic units for tracking, finding, and customizing them
for the tasks at hand. I thought I remembered moving them within theater at a highly discounted price.

Save the game and then do the change. You should see the discount then by comparing before and after PP.

Ill give that a try today. I bought out a division yesterday so my PPs hover around 400 again. We'll see. Operation JigSaw is close to
its opening act.

No mystery - if the new HQ is under the same Command HQ or IS the same Commmand HQ as the old one, the unit pays 25% of the full price to switch.

Be careful - some Command HQs have both restricted and unrestricted sub-HQs. I tend to select a few of the Corps HQs that are unrestricted and arrive early then almost all the units going under that Command HQ go to the Corps HQ. E.G. Under SouthWestPac I put 1st Australian Corps and then most of the Aussie units I buy out go there (full price). But If I later want to move an Aussie unit to another HQ like 10th Army within SWPac it is cheaper to do.

I can see them now. I think their corporate servers have fun with time change weekend: this has happened before.
