Targeted naval search again pulls out a miracle strike against no fighter escort...this is the task force that was just at Port Blair.

Were they loading or unloading?

You really have me sold on the Lilly. I only built them in small numbers in my previous game. They will get more attention in a future game. They are perfect in this role. Now if they just carried 2 800kg bombs ...

Still, those are some of the most valuable ships in the allied arsenal at this point in the game - LSI(L)s and the APAs are invaluable to the allies. Jocke has to cringe seeing those strikes!

Since they are loaded, there is a chance the two with heavy fires burn up!

And, yes, hopefully it buys time and delays the inevitable next invasion...as I won't be using the IJN to stop anything here I think. Although, I am somewhat doubtful that it will buy a lot of time.

Incredibly versatile strike plane - almost always can get hits and the hits do device damage very frequently. Perhaps its best ability is attacking the Fletcher task forces that start to raid...but they are incredibly weak planes, and get shot down with the greatest of ease. So extreme care needs to be used with them.

I would gladly trade 10 for 1 Fletcher...

Our estimate is 92 days in port for the Kaga...we shall see if I can speed that up some. Most likely means she will return to service with all the new carriers arriving in Jan 1944.

My first batch of AR ships finish converting soon, as of now I only have the original two...not nearly enough.

You can really create super repair facilities by putting several AR in a large shipyard with plentiful naval support...outstanding for repairing system damage very quickly.

Is that for complete repairs or just to get it repaired enough to get back to Japan faster?

Midway

I will pull off one of the infantry units, and most likely replace it with some armor or armored cars.

I feel very comfortable in thinking that Midway will be invaded...at which time I would like to have 15K supplies and forts five.

The AA has very low ceiling, but is there as a no troop soak to absorb shore and aerial bombardments hoping to shelter the AV troops.

The idea is to hold the base for a few days or longer allowing a KB strike should I so desire it. Also, it can trash a poorly designed invasion force.

Complete repairs. Obviously, I can't do that at Babeldaob. But I will put her in pierside, along with one AR present, and port 4, and 27 naval support (not great, I know) she will be able to knock a few points off her system damage before finishing her trip back to Honshu.

The AR will accompany her I think the entire way.

Wake

Another base very likely to be invaded at some point. It has some AT rapid fire guns, the 20 mm machine cannon soak unit, some infantry. The construction engineers and hq splinter are all leaving today or tomorrow.

I need to add some more artillery, and perhaps an armored car unit.

Midway and Wake are the tripwires for any invasion headed towards the Marianas and Hokkaido/Kuriles.

I am counting on Allied SigInt to show their relative strength to further delay Allied attacks here.

Now is the time for me to get some headquarter units to the Marianas, because they will most likely be under direct threat within three months time.

I have a feeling the threat to the HI will come from the Kuriles and Luzon/Mindanao and not the Marianas. But if I were to leave the Marianas weak, then he would come here.

I, for one, do not like fighting here.

My 2nd NF squadron arrives. Off to Burma with thee...

This squadron never upgrades to anything else, and in fact gets removed (which is really cruel).

In addition the commander is an inlaw; and the unit originally is slated for night operations which cuts training speed in half.

For now they will train pilots as they move across the Empire to Burma. Once there then they will replace the pilots and take up night duties (split into thirds most likely to spread coverage).

Total NF available now is 27 in two squadrons.

A definite weak area...I have been using the KB to delay here. It has improved greatly over the last two months however. I mean I have managed to scrape some troops for the area together.

Turn is away...

80 more type 88 mines will be laid at Rabaul and the hex due south, while 375 small types will also be dropped at Rabaul...a small 2 ship destroyer squadron will provide cover. Five more destroyers will rush in some troops, while more flying boats will bring in even more. Landing barges will try to evacuate the HQa back to Kavieng.

KB is heading for Truk...

Kaga making for Bab...

Left one Betty squadron with 1 Frank, 1 Oscar, and 1 Zero squadron on escort in the Bay of Bengal. Detection will be provided by glens from Iboats hopefully.

Deathstar is down at Munda, and a very quiet day here.

Elements of the 16th Division arrived at Rabaul...but I need more as the Allies are a solid 2-1 advantage. A few more 75mm mtn guns were flown in too.

Action, thrills, daring everywhere!

So, the question is do I send the KB here, knowing full well it will probably cost me Rabaul...or do I cede this area. I figure the KB can get here in 4 days...

Yamashiro begins the conversion...I resized her float plane squadron to 22. Daves, ugh! Could it be any worse? I am curious to see if they resize tomorrow.

I will replace the squadron with something else in 6 months....If Japan is still alive.

They should resize just fine. When the time comes, you could put the Rex on her... extra CAP for KB, although I notice that her speed is only 6/3. I don't remember mine being that slow. I didn't convert Yamashiro or Fuso, though. I did convert Ise, maybe Hyuga - pretty sure those stayed at 15 knots cruising when I did so. Checking Tracker, it looks like in stock all 4 of them stay at 25/15 for speed.

My guess, is the Allies are going for Darwin. Both Darwin and Katherine are lightly held; and have high DL. Ambon also has high DL, and some of the islands in the Taberfane area and west.

This area has seen a large buildup since the fall of Horn...from virtually empty to something a little respectable.

But if I move to stop this, then you know dollars to donuts the deathstar will shepherd another invasion perhaps taking Kavieng, Ponape, Nauru, Rabaul, etc. etc.

Where is my priority?

I think that is my plan. I only have two total squadrons of Rex for the game...darn PDU off.

A look at LangSon. Not much now, with only one big construction unit here. But I have plans!

I want to turn it into a huge level 9 runway.

I plan on getting at least one ground HQ here as well, as it is outside of the malaria zone and a great base to perform r&r.

But the level 9 runway will protect all around and really anchor Hainan/Haiphong, Vinh, Hue and even Tourane defenses.

Well, that is the plan...
