I wonder if I can ask the devs, my understanding is that there was a plan to update the strike planner, is there any update on the status of this, is it dead? On the back burner? Coming soon?

I ask because although from the players side its easy to change aspects of the mission, height and throttle ect, when designing scenarios where the AI will fly the mission its impossible to use anything other than the default height for the load out, so in the case of fighters this seems to 36000ft on around every load out, for ground attack its dependant on the weapons.

Example I have seen a scenario where, the attacking bombers dawdle along across the Inner Germany Border, straight into a wall of my SAMs, and fighter sweeps always take place at 36000ft and theres nothing the Scenario designer can do to prevent this happening.

Do the devs see a way of addressing this?

Regards

Butch

Scenario designers do.

Hows so gunner?

Do you mean setting and patrol around the target as opposed to using a strike mission?

Well the designer can use the mission planner to much better effect than using the standard defaults. By adjusting the mission parameters to best fit the situation, albeit predictive, he can really make the player think and plan.

Having multiple missions set up and by activating them at various times or assigning units to them via Lua, perhaps even randomly - although I don't tend to do that.

Planning the time for missions to achieve best effect, using marshaling missions etc.

I am certainly not arguing against the advanced mission planner - I am eagerly looking forward to it. But scenario designers can become quite dynamic with the current mission planner as is, it has limitations but it is still very good.

Cheers

Ah

Ok Gunner, I see what you mean about the unpredicatbilty and the massing of missions against the player.

I was meaning more the actual issue of AI strike missions flying at set height and speeds to targets mate.

But I take your point

Yeah, the upside to the more advanced features of the editor and Lua are that you can practically write a whole different AI for a given scenario. The downside is, of course, that you have to have someone to spend the time on those scenario features...

As for the strike planner, my understanding was that it was on the backburner while the team worked on getting CoW released. I figure once the immediate post-release patch support is cleared up, the strike planner will float up higher on the priority list again :)

It's a huge feature of course, so I'm not surprised it would take a while for it to go from a first demo to something release-ready!

I don't know if this is the right page for this question, but is there a strike planner for missile strikes? I would like to do a coordinated, time on target missile strike where i fire the missiles from either the same unit or from multiple units but the missiles all impact the targets at the same time.

If this is the wrong page for this, let me know and I will post it somewhere else.

Thank you for your help and comments.
