Historically, the Japanese paid little to no attention to sea to shore based gunnery.

Our little port raid goes off without a hitch...with no AA present, the bombers can really line up the targets. A Lilly Divebomber squadron follows, and finishes off the last two xaks.

I was pretty surprised to see these ships here...recon actually was pretty accurate.

An incredibly bold move on my part here...there are over 350 Allied fighters present. I was expecting some, but not so much....but none are flying CAP over the base.

Bettys sneak in and sink 3 transmarine cargo ships...I was hoping for something better like the cruisers that are there...but my dl was weak.

No plane losses

Why is it that Japanese bombardments are so inferior to Allied bombardments?

In my experience, overall they are not less effective.

There you go! I am trying to feel sorry for myself, plus setup poor expectations for the rest of the game on why Japan isn't doing well, and boy, do you ever ruin it. Don't rain on my pity parade.

Try again.

Why is it that Japanese Artillery is so inferior to Allied artillery. Heck, I have two almost full 75mm gun batteries here.

It is amazing all the things Japan can do in the game...that they never could have done in real life. But, come on, we all know the Allies are just overpowered and Japan is totally nerfed.

Ok, that is pretty much it for a few days as Jocke trips across world on a weekend getaway somewhere.

Any questions...

In fact, IJN bombardments are bane of Allied players' existence in the early game!

ETA: OK, I confess. I was deliberately trolling you. Overall they are less effective.

ETA II: Especially when you have a whopping *two* batteries of 75mm pop guns firing upon a massive Allied force.

Sending in the destroyers to bombard Rabaul today...following M-M's advice here to keep shooting at him.

Not too much other than that going on...moving troops etc., etc.

Jocke has the turn...so we are back on track.

That is my experience, whereas Fletchers can really put the hurt on!

But, perhaps they do contribute to disablements?

Right now, I'm very pleased with my "floating Japanese artillery."

In April/May '42 a TF of 4 Mogami Class CLs with 6 DDs and another with two BTS BBs (41cm guns), 3 CLs, and 8 DDs reduced 6th Aussie Div to 00 AV on the road between Cuttack and Viza in India over a few weeks. Then, two brigades from 6th Aussie Div suffered the same. Needless to say, scratch a division and two brigades from Allied OOB.

After a brief rest, they went to work on Chittagong. On the second deliberate assault, I bagged another Indian division and two brigades.

So, Gen Patton is not too happy with any form or size of Japanese artillery in India as of May 20th.

If an AAR wasn't so time consuming, I might consider doing one.

do it! You don't have to detail everything like...a screen capture and a sentence or even a word or two.

GP is headed for Florida with Mrs for a week soon. I 'might' start it then.

India has been fun - four divisions and eight brigades destroyed in two months of operations.

The IJN DDs basically have pop guns, though. They might help at the margins, but they won't do anything on their own.

Oct 19, 1943

A quiet day other than a needed (and costly) strafing attack on the two isolated Allied divisions in Burma. If I can hold there for I should be able to get reinforcements there strong enough to destroy them in 10 days...and because it isn't a base hex, supplies will actually flow to my troops despite the monsoon.

No attack at Rabaul...IJN destroyers bombard to modest effect and the artillery bombardment by the Allies inform me that they aren't suffering a lack of supplies.

Nov 1 will see a George Squadron and also Frank R will start production. There must be a difference in this PDU off game-mod...because I see other AAR where there is one squadron of Georges flying around in June of 43 and my first squadron is eligible in Nov.

I checked and it is Nov 15 for the first George Sentai.

I finally get the match-up I want over the troops in Burma, SW of Katha. Hurricanes sweeping and Franks on LRCAP. All the fighting takes place at 30K to thereabouts. 3 Sentai of Franks are intercepting...

One Frank is leftover for when the bombers arrive...and damages one beast before retiring.

A good day in the air.
