Hi
Stuck at work unable to play the game, so I will write down some thoughts I am having on different aspects of the game.

Question of Research/upgrade relative cost
This is something has surprised when I started playing the game. Once you get a tech level you upgrade any unit as fast as you can, because the cost of upgrading is relatively low. Even upgrading minors is generally a no brainer. However in real life it is the opposite. Researching takes time but no much resources, however mass producing the new techs is what takes more resources. This is clearly visible in late scenarios like 1943 or 1944, in which many units are not upgrasded to the last tech level, that never happens playing the whole campaign, you always upgrade everything as fast as you can.

So, IMO things should be reversed, researching tech should be much cheaper (with lower total MPP limits so that you can research everything) while upgrading should be exensive enough to select carfeully what units you upgrade.

I get your point somewhat ... but I think the bigger issue is....
once a tech is hit you can just auto upgrade troops way beyond the actual situation,
as long as a certain supply is reached .. so this means your actual national production is completely
switched to say .. uboats 1 turn armor the next .. then planes, you get the picture
well national prod in itself should have limits to an extent that say ...
germany out of there 100% mpps has restrictions, say must build between 50% to 75% of land ..
can build no more than 30% to 40% air, must build between 5 to 10 % in naval ...
same would apply to replacements
eg: you just lost say 70% of the german navy in 1 turn, yet you still have most units even tho there says 1's or 2's
so as long as you have ports they can get back to, well in 2 weeks there all brand new eh'
national characteristics as far as prod can be altered by major powers also.
now this can all be changed or altered by events, but if you apply the same scenario to diplomacy
and the chits that are available so to speak, its only whats available that you can apply ..
