CV Kaga - just be thankful that it wasn't Hiryu or Soryu. Those 2 TT hits would have been enough to sink either one of them.

I've found Kaga to definitely be one of the most, if not the most, resilient Jap carrier - I've seen her eat 4 Torps & still live to fight another day.

Moonlight 3%, but a nice sized night strike at very long distant. Important to note the aggression of the squadron commander is under 30 I believe.

Wharton hits a mine, and then a midget gets an attack in...this was the scenario I was hoping for...except with maybe a CVE...but no joy. Several more midgets sunk during the day.

Allies naval bombard Anchorage...I moved all the planes away.

Allies sweep with Jugs (a rare sighting) and bomb the troops that have surrounded the two Allied division SW of Katha in Burma.

A few sub attacks to no effect, mostly Japanese attacks. Well, other than losing 3 or so midgets.

Mini subs cost VP's. Is this a concern, or are you just playing for fun?

4 vp a sub if sunk, 3 if grounded. Multiply that by 20 and it is a whopping 80 vp. In a game that will need 100,000 vp for victory give or take.

They are fun, and what if one of them put down a CVE? Or damaged a BB?

A look at some of Japan's best Army fighter squadrons....but they performed magnificently this last week.

They are in sad shape now....SR3 is tough, so they will regroup, take new pilots on, and get ready for upcoming battles.

Allies have neglected Magwe...a few more days and the runways will be serviceable again.

The Tony A are on their way to Singers for local CAP and hopefully auto upgrade to the 61d model.

Jocke is off till Sunday celebrating a Pagan holiday

Jeez, you Europeans have had more vacation in six months than I did in 25 years. Seriously.

Anyhow, I will work on the mundane, crappy stuff. And dream of Frank R which is at 91% for a November production start. So sweet.

Realizing this is PDU off, I currently have about 7 squadrons flying the Frank A and most if not all go to Frank R. I have 200/month production of Frank A, with 200 in the pools. I need to figure out how much of the Frank R I will produce, and yes, the Frank A stays in production for the entire game.

Most of the Frank R squadrons I do believe upgrade to the Ki94II...a promising design except for the SR, and no cl cannons. Still, I am gunning for this plane!

End of the month...sees a rare surface fight.

Trusty calls off the attack and submerges because of damage sustained. A later spotting, and the Trusty decides not to launch torpedoes. That is restraint!

In other action, a sub hits an AK near Sakhalin...no worries though.

No other attacks or bombardments. Air forces pretty much rest on both sides although Allies lose 4 more transports.

Clearly what you need to do, to stop the Allied offensive, is to drop off some supplies in Kamchatka ...

Still shaking in Burma...

Magwe runway is at 38%...I suspect the Allies will heavily bomb the troops north of Shwebo. Currently it is 2 Allied Divisions versus 1,67 Divs, 1 Tank Div, and scads of AA with 4 more AA and 5 more tank units (2 Div & 3 Rgt) moving north from Shwebo plus artillery moving south.

Sorry, no w key enabled for this screenshot and I have a busy day and no chance to redo for quite a while.

Nov 1, 1943

Allied naval bombard Rabaul with 4 modern battleships plus a cruiser taskforce, and they also hit Seward in Alaska. Nasty.

Japan retaliates by knocking out 25 oil factories in Ledo which is not guarded. Maybe the Allies will divert something here.

Deep breath here, it is only now November 1, 1943 in a pdu off game, and the Allies hit my troops with very close to 80 B29s!

I thought I had till January, 1944.

OMG.

80 B29s.

I have 27 Irving -S, no Georges, 27 Jacks. Oh, boy.

At least the Allies are criminally misusing the beasts. The damage he could have done...

With the appearance of B29 I am in the process of pulling back all shipping from ports to at least 40 hexes from Allied base pretty much no matter the size of the Allied base.

Nicks will now go over to full time deep CAP, my 27 night fighters will be distributed to get some coverage and 6 bases, Petes and other float planes will provide other night CAP.

I have to tell you I am surprised that the Allies aren't hitting my industry, both Rangoon and Magwe are vulnerable and haven't been touched.

Frank R starts production at 230 planes per day. Sonia B, armored, starts at 30. Betty 2 starts at 60. My first Jack squadron is half way repaired, and there are now 10 factories researching the KI94II with three of them 2/3rd finished. Sam continues to chug along as does the A6M8 which will most likely start production in very early December freeing up more r&d facilities which I am not sure what I would do with.

Fighting in the open...the Allies bombed the troops on the rail line north of Shwebo with everything they had...our troops held up well and more AA is on the way.

Meanwhile the artillery train arrived against the two isolated divisions in the jungle to the east, and what is better it is a non base hex so Japanese troops will not be starved for supply like they were in Katha.

Marching skill in Burma is at 99 ... They are back where they came from initially right?

I still don't understand why he does not take a couple of those 10 units and move them one hex east to block the other rail line.

I think Jocke is really looking at pools and such. In his game with Obvert he had to stop bombing for close to 3-6 months because he exhausted his pools. He has been very stingy so far in this game.

I have had two full divisions isolated and surrounded now for months and he is really trying hard to rescue them. He should of just left them in Katha, supplied them by air and moved on I think. Instead I have managed to destroy two good Indian AA units and a LRP bde he used to try and rescue them.

Got the turn done and sent to Jocke...I realized I forgot to take the three Sentai off bombing Ledo. Normally never bomb a location twice...so I might pay the price, but I don't think so as there is only 1 unit at Ledo with a size 3 air force.

We shall see.

8 shiny new Frank R's roll off the production line.

Allies bomb the troop in the open north of Katha, and also the troops at Rabaul. The Pennsylvania bombards at Seward.

IJAAF bomb Ledo and Darwin. Ledo's oil and refineries are more than 50% damaged, but I am sure there is no impact on fuel stocks in India. Just doing it for a diversion...in the hopes the Allie send some fighters and aviation support there, although it remaining a level 3 air base is probably better for Japan in the long run.

But they still can fly from say a size 4 runway at half load, and half again for long range right?
