Hay mates, Just wanted to note that this is one of the nicest boards I've been to. Hell I think you're the only chaps who haven't slurred my name in some way heck you even include the 3D bit. Anyhow I really appreciate your hospitallity and will come back whenever I need some help ;c) Ah here's a quick question, is there any sites out there that have tactics for SP:WaW cause I'm really suckin it up... BTW the scenerio Arnhem Bridge is quite challenging, have any of you beat it? I can't even get past the bridge ;cP Cheers ~Chris

One of the best things about this forum is that we are all here to play the game. Everyone was new to this at one time or another. Some of us spend way too much time playing. There is quite a bit out there on tactics and the game. Check out the links at the top of this page. It will take you to a list of SPWAW sites that have what you are looking for and more. Also, check out the Military gamers link, and the wargamers webring. The ring has a few hundred sites dedicated to wargaming, ranging from great, to mediocre. Make sure that you bookmark the sites that give you what you are looking for, as you will turn to them quite a bit. Also, save every picture, map, and text that you find usefull. Especially save the maps, since eventually you will want to create your own, and they are great for referencing. There is a program out there called Hexgrid, which enables you to print a hexgrid over an image of a map, photo, etc... as long as it is in bitmap format. The process is simple, but to get the scale right takes a bit of practice. The best thing you can do now though is to play, play, play. Print out the manual, so that you can read it without sitting staring at the moniter. I get tired of looking at it after a few hours of play, and a printout is good to find out new bits of how the game works after a game session. Dont be afraid to experiment with formations and tactics. I havn't played any of the Arnhem scenarios yet, but they didn't capture the bridge in real life either. Close though...

We are here to help one another, not hurt one another, Gumby3D. That is the atmosphere we have created and attempt to maintain. We can even disagree amicably without slurs or name calling :D. This is a mature, kindly group of gamers. There are some tutorials in version 5.0-5.1 that will help you a great deal, perhaps more than just reading. And we are glad you have joined us! As Banjo has so well stated, experience in the game is a great teacher. You'll find a good general tactical guide by Larry Holt on Tankhead's website under the "Main" category. http://www.tankheadcentral.com/main.html Here are some more sites you might visit for some good info and scenarios on SPWAW.you should try these and bookmark all of them. http://www.militarygamer.net/raiders/ The Raiders, the original Raider site begun in 1997 and that has faithfully supported the Steel Panthers series from the beginning. http://www.militarygamer.net/steelpanthers/ Another great site at the Military Gamer that lends support to many of the variations of Steel Panthers. http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/sp_waw.htm An excellent support site run by Fabio "Tiger" Prado. Lots of good scenarios here and more being added all the time. http://www.tankheadcentral.com/ The same here, a site run by Rick "Tankhead" Cloutier, always offering new and unique scenarios and other helps for SPWAW. http://www.nwbattalion.com/ Bonzo offers us many good things for SPWAW in support of the game. http://electricwar.tripod.com/ Pack Rat has done a great job in his support site for SPWAW. Check out his fine selection of maps. There may be others out there! But please bookmark these and visit them frequently It is worth taking the time! Wild Bill

If you are speaking of G's Last Ride, it can be won as the Germans vs the ai. The trick is to exit the bridge to the north bank of the river (which in reality is impossible since the bridge is really up in the air there). Use a halftrack to bust that hedge open and then feed your halftracks to the upper side of the map skirting around the troops that are in the buildings. Do not go down the streets! Use a halftrack to smash the stone building leading to the circular plaza and feed your tracks through. Now bust a move towards the victory hexes located behind the British and when your remaining tracks get there, unload and dig in. The Brits will make a half hearted attempt to push you out of the victory hexes and have the potential to kill a halftrack or two if you let them get shot at. With the halftracks that get immob at the bridge and stone building you just have enough time to drive the rest around and dig in. German marginal is easy, decisive is dependant on not losing anybody. If you play the British side, against the ai, a decisive is a forgone conclusion. Against a Human German you should still get a decisive since you can shut down their run to either side of the bridge. thanks, John.
