I found a Russian Sub in the Russian held port of Tallinn. It seems it could disrupt the convoy route to Helsinki by just staying in port. Anyways I brought in a Destroyer with 1-3 damage odds and nothing happened to the sub and the destroyer took damage. Is that a super sub or something, it also (earlier) sunk a full strength destroyer at sea in one attack! Maybe my destroyer attacked the port instead of the sub. Do ports protect the ships in them? Shore bombardment doesn't damage land units in ports till supply values are reduced to zero, maybe that is the case here.

It's the port defences making the difference, but you've made me think it might be best if we move Helsinki's port to be to the west of the city so that this can't be done.

Moving the convoy route to the north hugging the Finland's coast would be more realistic too. Thanks for the reply. Should really have taken Tallinn.

I've moved the port, it was impossible to have the convoy reach the port where it was without a sub based in Tallinn taking it - an oversight on my part when I designed the map, so thanks for pointing this out.
