Jan 26, 1942

No night bombing, but the Allies savage Japan during the day.

Two squadrons of Migs sweep Toyohara followed by heavy bombardment. Two full squadrons of Nates, plus Shokaku's Zeroes are there and they get shredded. Soviet invasion then occurs and the Soviets win 8 AV to 3. Toyohara falls. One of the Nate squadrons is 1500 pp to buy back...yeah right.

Keijo firebombed...

Shanghai, Canton, Hong Kong and Palembang attacked...plus more.

String beans destroy two AP off Singers I forgot about and destroy a base force and a naval eng unit.

Soviet destroyers off Toyahara and somehow there are now more than 20 fighters at Toyohara? 30 plus Allies fighters at Chungking...so can't bomb them during the day as planned.

Certainly has confirmed my thoughts on Migs against the early war Japanese fighters. You are certainly in for a fight. Are you thinking of taking Toyohara back at some point when you get better fighters. Getting ahead of myself. What are your plans to halt further Soviet incursions into the Home Islands!!!!

Ouch indeed

On the plus (or minus depending on your point of view about their usefulness versus supply usage) side don't you get the emergency reinforcements?

My defensive moves in Manchuko, Hokkaido and Sakhalin is to fly in troops, move the fighters back 6 hexes from Soviet bases, and CAP.

Nates and Claudes even against unescorted bombers simply cannot shoot any down.

It seems like several forward moves into Manchuko have been called off...or perhaps my dl isn't high enough.

I believe I have at least float planes providing night time CAP over Honshu and a network of some Zeroes.

I believe the Empire has something like 650 active fighters, with the KB stripped of fighters...

Somehow Singers is back up to 75 Allied fighters...

Sakhalin doesn't have the same country code as does Japan, and I don't think the reinforcements are triggered. My memory is though they do come the turn following...dim memory.

Depending upon how the PP go, I might actually be able to buy them out and use them...but so many more important uses for PP now. I guess they can sit around and train up and improve their morale.

This turn I am starting the night bombing campaign of China and Soviets...I am sure to get meager results..but dl is good on the bases targeted...

The Shoho turned up today...her claudes upgraded to Zeroes to bolster the defense and moved off.

Not sure that they do, only the one isle in the Kuriles has the same country code and I think it is the only one that will trigger until Hokkaido.

Navy Fighters:

Japanese research of the Zero line will end with the A6M3a....

The A6M3a comes 12/42 and can fly on carriers...and will be the only A6 model made until the Sam appears. Heck with the 5 series and the 8 series.

The A6M3 should arrive sometime in April I guess along with the Nick. I am hoping I have accelerated the Jack to arrive say around July of 1942.

Who knows, I think the other PP cost is 90 or 120 so somebody probably tacked an extra 0 on it.

Japanese bombers hit Changsha, Chungking and Sian at night...starting a few fires. Most of the Army twin engines except for a squadron of Lillies stay home...lots of straying. Chungking had some night fighters up...

During the day the navy bombers do a little better...

Zeroes sweep Singers...heavy losses on both sides with Japan coming out ahead...

Japanese fighters protect Canton and Hong Kong...but Harbin in Manchuko is savaged as is Toyohara.

Not bad.

Also, I didn't realize the Soviets had paratroops on the map at this point. Or did they actually land at Toyohara? I somehow missed it until the "Toyohara falls" post.

202nd Airborne Brigade...at least 80 assault value...over 50 effective AV now. Soviets don't have transports as far as I can tell, but they do have a scads of patrols. Soviets evacuated 80 AV in one day.

Turn is away...

Oscar Ic arrive in Manchuko and Japan

More Zeroes...

Troops are arriving to contest the Soviets...especially AA.

IJN forces are beefing up: BB, 2 CA, and about 6 destroyers arrive. AKEs are getting into position, soon I will be able to start bombarding Soviet bases.

Ramped up production more.

Starting to feel a little bett

Since you have a bit of time while the Europeans work on their tans ... Looking back to the beginning of the game, did you detail what you did with the factories that were currently producing planes? I read through the first part of the AAR but did not see this. Did you expand them or convert them to something else? Things like the original Oscar plant or the Ida plant. I know you talked about your plans for the Nate plant at Harbin but I am not sure you said what you did with the other existing plants. I was looking through Mike's ARR and he talked about the original factories. This prompted me to look in yours as well.

Thanks in advance,

Wa
