Hiya, I have not heard of this happening before on these boards, but I wonder if anyone has any examples of WitP being played co-operatively? So, say two players taking control of Japan, one commanding the Navy, the other the Army, with a similar arrangement with the Allies.

The logistics of making such an arrangement work in a grand campaign would be....troublesome...but one factor the game doesn't simulate is the inter-service rivalries which stymied both sides conduct of the war. Having two players try and formulate a coherent strategy, whilst competing for the same resources, would be an interesting take on the game that I'd love to read about

It actually works quite well... it requires some discipline but I had and still have co-ops running. With Dropbox as a cloud-service it works quite fine and it is actually fun to play.

Cap Mandrake currently has two AARs running in which he and Admiral Lord sprior work together on their side. Not sure if their opponents are a team or a single player. Cap does most of the posting but occasionally sprior chimes in. He taught us some rudimentary Jackspeak!

When testing the RHS scenarios, there were 3 people on the Allied side and a team of USAF personal playing the Japanese side....GP

Fabertong and I are the opposing team for one of those matches (we're playing the Allies).

It's not common for teams- but it's not what I'd call unknown either.

Most of the problems occur when the Cap'n forgets where the turn is.

Cheers. I will have a look at the Cpt Mandrake AAR's in particular.

How do people typically divide up responsibilities/jurisdictions? By nation/theatre etc? Do you ever get arguments over where to deploy particular units, like the argument that occurred between Churchill and Curtin over the Australian 7th Division? Stuff like that would be interesting

When I tested RHS, I was Pacific Ocean Areas, West Coast, Canada, Alaska, and South Pacific. I was new to RHS at the time. The next player had Southwest Pacific, DEI's and the Phillipines. The last player had Malaya, CBI theater and Russia. The other team was a group of Airforce personel and I'm not sure how they had it set up. I was fun most of the time till a team mate took naval units I had control of and then got the whole bunch killed. A few other things come up, mostly because of differing ideas. Differing ideas made it interesting....GP

I've done quite a few partnership games 2x2. 2x1's and so forth. For partners I usually had Onime and USS America. Opponents have included Chickenboy, Dixie, Sprior and several other players.

As I usually did the allies side , my partners and I generally followed the "Chop system" as used in real life by the USN. An example might be I'd be the USN/USMC , my partner might be the commonwealth, China , USSR and SOWPAC (Not including NZ , the Philippines and Solomon islands.

On the "Chop system" ships , squadrons and units would "InChop" from one commander to another , as it was transferred from one operation areas. We often kept the USN CV's intact (no matter where operated) and sometimes kept the heavy USAAF bombers as a solid force , using them as a "Strategic asset", as the Joint Chiefs did with the B-29's. Also it allowed us to constantly "leap frog" them for best advantage.
