Hay hay! Ya, so last nite after about and hour of two of television viewing I decided to try and play through a whole scenario of SP:WaW. So after about five minutes of scanning through the scenario list I found one that sounded interesting, very general in subject matter and small. I forget what the name of the scenario was ;c) but it was one where you are in control, well without chosing otherwise, of the germans and you have with you a small convoy with a few motor bikes, armoured cars and one tank, a small tank destroyer on a Pz1 hull. The mission description described a situation where the Germans and Russians met in the bend of a road, like face to face, not a hundred metres away. So being the clever devil I am, I decided to unload my troops a little before the bend and move them up onto a hill rich in organic cover. I then proceeded to scout a litte farther down the road with a motor bike and it was suppressed almost instantly and the crew was killed. The battle went on from there. I believe the reason I won was because I had a hold of the hill. My infantry easily took out enemy half tracks that ventured into the rough foliage. It was quite stunning to win... If only marginally, I might not have won if I didn't have a hold of all the VLs... Anyways... I have another question... I'm interested in playing a scenario that's based in France within the tight bocage. Not a huge scenario either maybe a couple tanks and 1 or 2 platoons of infantry... I still don't have the hang of the editor yet so this is why I'm asking ;c) Cheers ~Chris

Good Job!! Your medal is in the mail. I've found that the scenarios are great learning tools efore you embark on a long campaign.

Congratulations! I recommend the scenerio called King of the Hill. You control a rifle platoon and some tanks, and have to take a hill away from the Germans. It is small, but difficult and fun. It was the first serious scenerio that I played, and got a marginal defeat if I remember correctly. I wrote an after action review and posted it to the forum. Give it a try! Congrads!! Now you're hooked!! :D It's great when you knock out those tanks too - I get in trouble for yelling out loud, especially if the kids are asleep. But you just can't help it sometimes. Figmo [ May 24, 2001: Message edited by: Figmo ]

That was one of mine, Gumby, and it was designed for that reason. I'm glad you chose it. It is called "Surprise on the Steppes (Scen069)." I still hope you will try the tutorials, especially the first one. It is nothing more than basics and should be a help in seeing just how you move and shoot. But you did well. That scenario is not the easiest to win so my congratulations to you! Wild Bill

Well danke, danke very much WB... I have learned already to hold your oppinion highly. My reasons are simple, you worked on this game, and you rock man, you're very involved with the community which is super cool. Anywho, ya I think I'm gunna find some info on the map editor I'm having lots of stress with setting up frontlines and VLs ;c) (edit) Figmo I'm with ya buddy, this is one of the only games I shouted with glee... Man it sure is both a rush and a relief to knock out those enemy tanks =c) ) Cheers ~Chris [ May 25, 2001: Message edited by: Gumby3D ]
