Hi,

I think that the standalone "Stand Up" scenario needs a rebuild - units on both sides start with damage, which in the case of the Argentinian recon planes, prevents them from readying before the conclusion of the scenario.

Is Aircraft Damage turned on? I suspect that scenario was never rebuilt with damage on.

I might be mis-remembering, but weren't we told not turn damage on in scenarios unless they were built specifically to have aircraft damage.

The scenario in question doesn't have aircraft damage on, and I didn't turn it on either - I confirmed with others that they also have the issue, I think it might be a side effect of the introduction of DP for aircraft.

Deep rebuild to 467 both with and without applying the INI file still sees HMS Portland start with 23.2% damage.

This is a problem in other scenarios as well, specifically:

Brother Against Brother, 2011 -- Structure (Pier) 70% Damage, Civilian Motor Yacht 94.4% damage
Down Town, 1967 -- USS Bainbridge 5.6% damage
Duelists, 1989 -- Both USSR Udaloys 1.9% damage
First Contact, 1951 -- Both Fairmile MGBs 8.7% damage
First Contact, 1973 -- Snogg 34.1% damage, Storm 35.6% damage
Operation Brass Drum -- LHA America 16% damage
Operation Lion's Den -- DDG 12 Robison 35.9% damage
Operation Market Time, 1962 -- Swift Class 18.2% damage
Operation Vantage, 1961 -- HMS Bulwark 16% damage, HMS Lincoln 4.4% damage
Raid on Kismayo, 2013 -- LHD 3 Kearsarge 16.3% damage
Raven 21 is Down, 1976 -- Cargo Vessels 61.4% damage, Sroynyy 4.3% damage, SSV Mayak 51.5% damage, USS Wichita 59.5% damage, USS Marvin Shields 25.4% damage, USS Nitro 32% damage, USS Tarawa 16.3% damage, USS Thomaston 10.7% damage
Stand Up, 2011 -- RFA Wave Ruler 48.4% damage, HMS Portland 23.2% damage, ARA Espora 3% damage
Standing Naval Force Atlantic, 1979 -- SSV Okean 42.7% damage. Heaps of others, too numerous to list
Tee Up, 1971 -- Structure (Pier) 92.5% damage
The Battle of Dong Hoi, 1972 -- Civilian Junks 70% damage, SSV Okean 42.7% damage
The Four Horsemen. 1987 -- SSNs Norfolk & Portsmouth 2.6% damage
Trapped Under Ice, 1999 -- SSN 768 Hartford 2.6% damage

Rebuilding these scenarios unfortunately doesn't help, and it also appears that various aircraft are damaged which won't be obvious on simple looking at the scenario in the editor like I have done above.

I'm working on a Lua script to repair or replace the affected units, but not certain if it will be a better investment of time compared to just manually changing them out.

I suppose if you're that competent with Lua, a script is the way to go but it took less than 5-minutes to update the scenario to the latest DB and fix the damage errors using the damage control window and aircraft ready window. Ideally, the scenarios that ship with the game perhaps should not have these sorts of issues but the fix is really easy and can be done by the user with little effort. That said, features added to CMANO since they were written might have changed the designs greatly with regards to the scenario author's intent and possibly more than just rebuilding and tweaking may be necessary. In any event, resources are finite and time spent by the Team fixing stock scenarios is not utilized bug-squashing or further improving the simulation particularly as the user repairs needs only the most basic understanding of the editor.

On further examination this is actually a significant issue for a lot of scenarios.

For example in Stand Up, as Owl mentioned, the two Trackers on the Argentinian side (which for some reason have no loadout? not sure if that was always the case) when given a loadout by a player aren't ready until after the scenario ends.

The problem with simply changing it in the editor is twofold, #1 it assumes that the player recognises the issue, is aware of how to fix it and inclined to do so; 2# it is not readily apparent that aircraft are damaged until their loadout is changed or they land and re-ready. Given that we're talking about the scenarios that come with the game, and are usually a player's first introduction to the game, it's not realistic to expect people to be able to rectify this without any outside help.

I agree that developer time is precious, but in my opinion this issue has the potential to turn new players off the game. I have some free time at the moment so I am happy to go through and save updated and 'fixed' versions of the scenarios. I don't think however this should be left to players to sort out on their own.

As a potentially related issue, shouldn't using the 'rebuild' feature--particularly deep rebuild--prevent this issue in the first place?

The Argentine Turbo-Trackers in Stand Up are fixed by providing a loadout, presumably Maritime Reconnaissance and selecting the "Ready Immediately" option. The log may generate messages that they are undergoing repairs if you access the Mission Planner but these should be cleared from the log before the repaired scenario is saved. That said the point that scenarios which ship with the game should be working properly is certainly unassailable and I had actually not considered this aspect of the problem because the issue is easily solved. Still until an official fix for the scenarios is provided the do-it-yourself repairs process is not really that onerous.

One problem is that the damaged units and aircraft are not present in every stand alone scenario. Some scenarios (FOST-ASW for example) are fine as are other units in scenarios where damaged units are present. There does not appear to be a coherent pattern in what's broken what's not, at least none that jumps out at me and there are probably community pack scenarios suffering from damaged units as well.

So let's agree to call it an issue and see what the Developers do next.

Attached is a zip with a repaired version of each of the bundled 'Standalone' scenarios.

All have been updated to db 467, and damaged units have been reset to 0 damage. A new delta SBR template was generated from the repaired file before updating to 467, so the included .ini's shouldn't cause any problems in the future.

To use, unzip this file to
...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\Scenarios\Standalone Scenarios -- Steam installation
...\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\Scenarios\Standalone Scenarios -- Non-Steam installation

Select 'yes' when prompted to over-write files.
