Status: offline 		There has been a lot of discussion recently on board games. Well folks for those that don't know, the final ever version of Australian Design Group's World In Flames (greatest. game. ever. made. FACT) is coming out in the autumn.

For those that never got to play the game, but like board games, buying this is simply not an option. Even if, like me, the chances are you will never get to play the board version again (lack of space, lack of time, poor eyesight or whatever) this game still needs to be bought. Even if you can't play the game you can still spend quality time lovingly caressing the beautiful counters, fondling the fighters, slavering over the ships and.... well you get the picture.

The Collectors Edition contains 4,800 counters. Every ship of light cruiser and above, all the planes, the armies, the most famous generals are all here - what-if counters too. Hard board mounted maps - I'm coming over quite unnecessary at the mere thought... If you are serious about WWII, about games, and want something sexy to pore over on those long winter evenings then this is a must buy.

No. The Best Game Ever routine is a bit of fun - a bit of hyperbole. I happen to think its true but then that is just my humble opinion.

With respect the fact you'd never heard of it doesn't really preclude it from being an excellent, hugely successful game and previous winner of the Best 20th Century Game (Charles S Roberts Award), the winner of the Wargame of the Decade, the Winner of the State of the Art award and the winner of the Game of the Year (all Fire and Movement).

I can't comment on the games you've mentioned as I've never heard of them, but I am sure they are very fine games.

Status: offline 		Doesn't look like they will reprint it, but you will find these once in awhile on Amazon and/or Ebay, but they aren't cheap. Before doing so, make sure you have a opponent or two, or you will regret it.

Still I'm very surprised you've never heard of it esp being a member of what is mainly a wargamers forum/publisher. WIF is one of the all time classics, the ASL of grand strategy scale wargames.

Status: offline 		I got some weird looks in the store when I bought more or less their entire stock of matchstick-boxes when I bought WiF. (glued them together into a large square structure to use for the counters).

And WiF tip of the day, do not toss lighters into the air (and TRY to catch them) over the eastern front in -43...

That very much depends on what you already have in terms of the game and the various add-ons. It also depends on what you believe you may want to play - e.g. does extending the war into the 1950's appeal? Do you want to add on a game that gives random starting positions (i.e. different outcomes of actions in the 1930's?) or do you just want to play a strategic WWII game? If you can give me an outline on what you have and what you are looking for Challerain I can gladly try and help.

Then defo, if you want the WWII game then the Collectors Edition Deluxe Game is the one. This gives you all the add-ons: Ships in Flames, Planes in Flames, Territories in Flames and Divisions in Flames. These aren't just chrome - these really enrich the game. Having said that you can pick and choose the optional rules you want to play with.
