I just want to make sure if I understand game mechanics correctly.

I was flying my Predator UAV around Kosovo and I located S-125 SAM system. I wanted to provoke them in order to get an emission for the HARM missiles from nearby SEAD forces.

But, it turned out that S-125 shoot down my poor drone without any emissions. Does that mean that they shoot it using a TV camera? If there is "target tracking" description next to the sensor, is that mean that this sensor can be used for targeting and shooting down hostiles?

I also want to add that I was pretty low, just under the clouds and I guess that's important for the TV camera system.

EDIT: I just realised that SAM S-125 missiles require a radar guidance, so I guess it was not possible to target the drone without it. Still, I wonder why it went unnoticed.

In real life S-125M Pechora (SA-3b) uses equipment for television-optical sighting and tracking of the target - "Karat-2" (9Sh33A). It allows to track targets and to fire without turning radar on. In CMANO all versions of SA-3 are equipped with SA-3 TV Camera (http://cmano-db.com/sensor/4150/). I don't know - is feature of missile guidance with SA-3 TV Camera implemented in CMANO. Furthermore, S-125 has mode of manual missile guidance.

Thank you so much for the answer!

Maybe this knowledge is to complex, but I was wondering: how the semi-active radar homing missile from S-125 "knows" where the target is without the radar on? I thought it needs to passively intercept a reflected radar waves in order to lock on target.

I gotta tell you, this topic is so interesting! I've always thought that missile instalations are boring, compared to tanks, planes, ships etc, but I was totally wrong.

Most of your every day SAM questions can be answered here. Take a look at some of the english manuals for different SAM systems and they will show how the optical guidance works.
