Ok, all the ships provided 13 points of defensive shore bombardment (could have used one more point if it existed).
Only aircraft available to fly were the US CVP. The planes in the Bay of Biscay could only react to the hex as fighters if there was a bomber in the hex (this was news to me and I'm not sure if it was completely accurate), so I flew a CVP from the CSV as a bomber and the other three flew as fighters. Air-Air went the allies way. Aborted my fighter (my choice) and a bomber. Shot down a bomber, and cleared a bomber. Your bomber was also aborted. Net I added 4 ground support strength.

Missed the fractional, but made a combat roll that got exactly me to exactly 23. You lost all three land units (no retreat path for Alexander) and two disorganized planes were overrun and destroyed.

Here is the JF43 destroyed pool. Does not show several destroyed CP and damaged vessels, which would increase CW losses.

End of Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. Return to Base. Arabian Sea.

The IJN attempts but fails to intercept a lone CW CP returning to base from the Red Sea to the CW port island of Victoria.

End of Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. Return to Base. Arabian Sea. #2

A second RN task force returning to base (from the East Med) through the Arabian Sea isn't so lucky. IJN naval bombers finds and sinks the heavy cruiser Effingham. The IJN bombers as attack the RN Battleship Warspite who through superb maneuver is able to avoid major damage. The Australian heavy cruiser Canberra is also targeted but manages to avoid all but superficial damage.

End of Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. USN and RN Western Pacific Fleet.

Obviously I don't understanding something. I was unable to reorganize all these allied naval units even though they're in supply. Apparently being in supply is insufficient for being able to use available oil to reorganize. Is the issue that I don't have a convoy path from an oil to these units?

Regardless, my situation in this game just went from hopeless to totally hopeless.

Yes, I believe that is what happened. I believe it also happened the previous turn as well. For this reason, I will always as the CW save oil in Australia and India so that those regions if isolated can still reorganize oil dependent units.

Yes, a solution that occurred to me after posting my dire situation. The upside is that in my future games as the allies I will build a healthy stockpile of oil in both these countries in the early game.

Turn 22. Mar/Apr 1943. Allied #1. USN Carrier Task Force Headed to the Coral Sea.

A USN Carrier Task force originating from Peal and headed to the Coral Sea passes though the Solomons Sea, which contains an IJN I-boat flotilla on the prowl for allied convoys and supply ships. Without consulting his higher naval command the local commander of the Japanese flotilla decides not to order his I-boats to search from this task force. This local commander hopes that his actions do not bring shame to himself; otherwise he'll be obliged to open his sub hatch and do the honorable thing.

In other words, I made the decision for the Japanese sub not to attempt to intercept. I do hope that was ok.

Turn 22. Mar/Apr 1943. Allied #1. USN and RN Pacific Fleets.

Shown is the naval reserve the USN maintained at Pearl. Also shown (again) is the appalling (out of supply) situation for a large portion of the USN West Pacific fleet. The USN Vice Admiral in command of WESTPAC, which includes both the USN and RN Western Pacific fleets, has been fired and will be returning to Washington, DC to sit out the rest of this war in shame. Of course, the Vice Admiral if he so chooses can fight this by accepting and going to a Court Marshall. But being a career navy man, this is unlikely. Also, rumor has it that Admiral Nimitz, overall commander of the USN Pacific Fleet, will personally take command of WESTPAC being that the situation is so dire.
