I know someone has said this before, but I cannot remember who. Until I do, or until someone else does, I'm going to call this Lambert's Law. I do not require any deputies to enforce it, I will guarantee your opponent will without any writ from me. It matters not which side you have chosen to be on, Never, ever, advance your carriers into a space not covered by your land based naval search. I understand that the IJN must do so in order to get this war going, but it will never be acceptable after that.

Every time you establish forward bases, risk the troops you send to do that, never any of your carriers. I played four or five PBEMs as the Allied player and every single time I ambushed and destroyed the KB, all six fleet carriers, without losing a single US carrier. Every single time my opponent violated this law and every single time I did not.

Yes, a good policy but you must deviate at times lest you become too predictable.

So we all need to be deviants? I'm down with that as long as we don't get caught ...

The Japanese in real life followed this doctrine....until Coral Sea. After Midway they had no choice. While I firmly believe in "never say never", this is a good , general doctrine. The trick is finding the resources for the doing......

???
Safe movement of carriers is directly proportional to thickness (path length) of land based naval search.

Ahh.. and I thought it was inversely proportional to the thickness of one's skull.. Hmm...

well, works perfectly in this game, just replace light beam strenght with spooted carrier force and slab of material with torpedo/bomber planes.

Not all Berraisms are true. Read his book, Things I Never Said, funny stuff.

we KNOW what ships we have more or less..both sides

SO..

as japan the KBDeathStar (PH) must attack only 3 months,,conquer johson island and...cruch his balls,, don care what the americans Cvs do in the 42..except salomon islands.

so; dock the KBDS 6-8 months training at home island is a good idea for me...IF a lost only 25 planes at PH, if more i will sinked
