Indianapolis doesn't have a port. stick with Chicago....GP

If even Columbus,Ohio can have a "Port", why can't Indy?

(Google or Bing search "Port Columbus")

I'm still trying to figure out that one. Port Columbus is the airport. Although the name has been changed to John Glenn international airport. So in conclusion, Columbus doesn't have a SHIP port....GP

I never knew they renamed the Columbus airport!.
No, Indy does not have a port..They tried to dredge White River coming from the Wabash to Indy, and did manage to get a couple of the flat bottomed classic river boats there, but it proved too costly to maintain that dredging.
Indy did turn out a huge amount for the war effort, (Marmon Herrington, Allison aircraft engines,International Harvester trucks, half tracks, tanks, etc, and of course as the "Crossroads of America", its' highways were the literal equivalent of any port.
Evansville Indiana turned out LST's, most of the middle and late model Republic P 47's, and Studebaker was in South Bend.
My consideration of naming Chicago/Indy was not dependent on a waterway, but rather a matter of "contribution or point of origination, transportation wise.

Of course, Willow Run might be another name for the contributions of Detroit, etc., so there is a case for leaving it all under "Northern Midwest"?
Just one of the nice things about the editor, (which you helped me get running again), and I again thank you, old friend.

The Airport was renamed after John Glenn pasted away. He had roots here in Ohio.
As far as the Northern Midwest goes on Sids map, I like Upper Midwest.....GP

Merely a curiosity question; has this project gone on hiatus?

No. I was in contact with our friend Sid a few weeks back and he is involved at present on a separate issue, but has been faxing me some unbelievable stuff regarding The Atomic Pioneers, etc.

FYI...I heard from our friend Sid this week. He is still very involved with real life matters and will be away from WITP for a while..
His real-life past has given him some unique status with folks in need of research.

Personally, I am still playing and tweaking my RHS game, having added some of the smaller ARD's to the USN, which were launched basically monthly from mid 1942 on.

I believe the supply production should be CONSIDERABLY reduced and resources hauling encouraged more i.e from India to UK.

There is certainly enough to make it team worthy but my health precludes my ability to participate on a consistent basis.
I survived cancer with a third of my lungs and still visit the Dr's on a regular basis.
(They want bigger boats.)

I am all about "solo and AI" for that reason.

In RHS, several of us agree with you and feel some of the challenge is missing with so much "cash in hand" from the gitgo, lol.

Thanks for the bump GP but I'm sorry.....I don't think the teams idea would work all that well.
People come and go and long games are rare.

I think I may have found a problem. In the upper half of the image you see where I have assigned the ship
to go to Seattle and it says it's only 27 hexes to get there but when I assign the ship to go to Dutch Harbor,
some 20 hexes away, in the lower half of the image you can see where the game engine has decided that trip
deserves special treatment. I'm not sure what the problem is but I think it has something to do with RHS II.
What do you think?

No ice or impassable hexes as far as I can see 'em. I have no idea what's wrong. Pwhex.dat?

Show us as a screenshot of the uppermost part of India plus Abadan, which is off-map. Maybe you have mixed the pwhexe data?

In the upper image I have formed a TF and have given it the destination of Seattle
and I don't see any thing wrong with it at all. In the bottom image I have framed
Abadan and northern India and again I don't see anything wrong. I don't remember
having to change the pwhex.dat file at all yet. I've just formed an anti-AI game
and was setting it up for turn one when I discovered the AO going to Dutch Harbor
problem. I imagine it's a pwhex.dat problemo.

Here's something significant: I have formed a second TF at Dutch Harbor and have
given it the destination of Seattle and this time there IS a problem. It's pack ice I guess.
You have to enter and leave the port through a hexside that has an ice problem evidently.

So um........I can't find the appropriate file to link the bases to their regions in Tracker. Is
there such a file for RHS II?

I got the file for linking Tracker to it's regions. Thanks very much.

That's a lot better although there are still some bases missing their regions.

I did most of the Allied major regions, while NyGiants59 did the Japanese ones. Feel free to update the region file.

Regarding those "iced in ports"..That is what is causing those crazy red mileage numbers..Sid was working on "seasons", and the player is supposed to know when to go to his seasonal hex data info , rename the file and paste it into the main game folder in RHS depending on the season..Unfortunately, I have yet to find one that actually opens all the Alaskan ports, (thawing the ice), without locking Recife from the game map entirely!..
I am playing scen 122,(solo) and have tried all the warmer seasons, which HAS melted the ice, but ....Recife stops being recognized entirely.

The only way I have found to get around this is to prevent any ships from getting "stuck" in Recife when "melting the ice".....

If someone finds a better fix, or even a universal dat file which just eliminates the seasons altogether before I do, please let the rest of us know...

When I was working with sid a year or 2 ago, I had trouble with the new ports. Then sid fixed it and all seemed ok. I guess it isn't. Is Recife locked during the "summer" season or all 3 warmer seasons?....GP
