hi all veteran gamer from the east front,

i need to have at least a advice or understand that i do...

In my MP Game, (january 45), the Wermacht gas etablished a solid defense around Berlin.

I launch several attacks with 9 rifles corps + 12 ART divisions on one Hex defended by 3 germans divisions.

on this Hex (CV DEF = X with 3 level (10%) fortification), the fire density is amazing !

i have more 5000 canons !!!! and more 300 000 men versus 40 000 soldiers.

and the result is held with 600 casualties for German and 3000 for me....

What's happen?

How is possible that for a hex 10 miles on the deep, the lost for german is just 600 men????? 5000 canons !!!!

I need to understand.

If you are attacking berlin itself, the german defenders are getting a bonus as they are defending an urban hex. First off, you are going to need more than 5000 guns (10,000+ is better), assemble your breakthrough art divs (as many as you can) and launch another asssualt with them supporting you. The more artillery the higher the decay of the fort level in combat. Yes the casualties may be high but its 1945 and you dont really care. My advice would be try and isolate berlin then try and take it. In summary, artillery helps with decreasing fort levels and helps with the assault, and the more men you have attacking the better really. Also dont forget that the german Werhmacht is a shell of its former self, if those divions are subjected for pronlonged fighting they will crumble and rout. Try and attack the one hex from as many hexs as possible. Hope this helps, if i am wrong someone on the forum better informed than myself will correct me and giive you the answer you desire.

Try half a million men, twenty thousand guns and all attacking corps, mostly guards, with at least two sapper regiments each. Then check back with us. You can also check out one of the latest War Room posts on casualty results. Known issue that cannot be fixed within the constraints of the game engine. It is what it is.

I fill my rifle corps with 3 sapper regiment each. So your get at least 27 engineer value. No german hex (clear) with 3 inf divs can resist to such treatment, especially in 1945.

hi all, thanks for your answer.

For the moment the hexagon in question is not Berlin, but just a Hex with with 3 ID or more complicated 3 panzerdivisionen....

I agree with your advice.

My Attacks are always with 6 or 9 rifles corps with sapper r�giments (it d�pends the number of side can be used for Attack).

i have not a lot choice....

Forts give serious protection. Besides it's just one hex, 600 casualties is quite a lot, usually there are dozens of attacks every turn, and then there are the indirect losses from damaged elements and fatigue, incurred in logistics phase. This will eat German manpower quickly.
