I'm going to get Shifting Sands and planning on doing so on Matrix partially to support their dev efforts and partially because I know I can get a Steam key.

So the question becomes do I install via Steam or the Matrix download? Any thoughts?

I'm on steam because of problems with authorizations.(I had Matrix version originally). Never did figure out why.
Steam you get updates automatically, so no messing around to install them.
Also steam workshop is great for installing new scenarios - you just click to subscribe to the scenario and automatically install it.
(Too bad Database Images & descriptions aren't on steam workshop though)
Matrix you can get updates before they hit steam.
