Curious what WitP:AE players think of Empire of the Sun, the boardgame?

The old Avalon Hill war game that was the companion to Advanced Third Reich? If so, the two of them could be played together as the (seriously misnamed) Global War 2000.

I loved Empire of the Rising Sun (I think that's the actual name) and Advanced Third Reich. And GWY2K was a blast. I used to play them online, sort of like the old play-by-mail system. Dice rolls were handled by a dice-roll website.

ERS was much fun. One day perhaps Matrix will acquire ERS, A3R, and GWY2K. If so, let's just hope it doesn't become another World in Flames.

I was a playtester for ATR. Loved that game. Played it almost every Friday night for over a decade.

back in the board game heyday I designed a storage cabinet for board games sort of like a flat file for large format drawings.

I used sheets of finish veneer plywood as bases for games. You set your mounted mapboard on the plywood sheet or taped your paper map to it and set up the game.

At the end of the night the board slid into the cabinet for storage so you could pull it out the following weekend and continue the game. The cabinet had 1x1 ledgers on the sides spaced about 3" apart vertically so many boards could be stored simultaneously.

Another wargame buddy was so taken by the concept he had a cabinet shop make a copycat version for him.

I owe most of my limited math skills to continual BRP calculations.

Board games rocked when I was growing up. Avalon Hill, Strategy & Tactics both giants in publication. The game USN held my fascination for a very long time. I even built a frame for tin panels large enough to hold all 5 maps of Atlantic Wall securing the counters with magnetic clips. Interesting times...
