I've been struggling to spot the vanilla formation highlight, so I've created a red one. This works in Zoom levels 3 and 4, but not in maximum Zoom-In, as I never use that.

FIRST BACKUP THE ORIGINAL FILE, then unzip to your graphics folder (e.g. in my install it's C:\Matrix Games\The Operational Art of War IV\graphics).

Have now added the Max zoom version and also changed the selected unit higlight to a brighter colour than vanilla.

Hey Redmarkus,
Just an FYI there's a graphics override folder in the my documents TOAW4 folder you can drop this stuff into, no overwriting is needed.

Hey Bud,

Good to see you here - but not a surprise as this has always been the gold standard in wargames!

I'd forgotten all about that folder. I just like doing things the hard way!!!

I also find the default frontline markers a bit tricky to spot, depending on the background map being used. I've modded these to make them stand out a bit more...

I'm using my modded dashed red frontline borders BMP from TOAWIII. BMP terrain/map graphics (EXCEPT unit counters) in the Graphics Override folder do work... note that the zoomed out map will look very messy though

Aha, redmarkus4, this is great! A definite improvement, and one I sought to make on my own as well!
For some variety in the color options, I've got white(ish) and slightly-pale green options.

Some good stuff here - I also like the white ones. My slight red-green color blindness makes the green ones hard to tell the difference between selected and formation.

I like the brighter borders too, nice job!

Very nice! It would be great if we had a set of switches in the game options that let us alternate between options like this; white highlights on a green map, red ones on a winter map, etc.

I really don't prefer the red. Hard for color blind and also similar to a blown bridge in red. Can someone please post up the white?

I've attached the file to this post. Just unzip it and drop it in your graphics override folder.

Thanks Larry! The link just had to be wrapped in a [link] block, because of the spaces I dumbly included in the file name.

I think your colours are better, especially for the map mods I like to use, but I have reversed the colours with red being the selected unit.

If you put the mod files in the graphics override folder, they would be used in every scenario. If you want to use the mod in a specific scenario, you put them in the correspondent sub-folder.
