While playing "The End in the Sahara," I moved an armored carrier, and I got some sort of message. I think it was something about not being able to display properly, so the display was being adjusted. Ever since then all my visuals, both in CSME and outside the game, look stretched horizontally, and I think the fonts for letters has been changed as well. I haven't figured out how to switch it back. I've tried adjusting resolutions with no success. Everything functions, it just looks stretched horizontally. Any suggestions?

Would you please post a screenshot?

AFAIK, the game doesn't show any message like the one you described. It sounds like some kind of system (Windows? graphics driver?) message. Then as if Windows (or the graphics driver) reconfigured somehow. If so, the fix would be to undo the reconfiguration, but I couldn't say what that would be.

Maybe a reboot will put things back the way they were.

If and when this happens again, note the "sort of message" carefully, and post its message content here. Better if you can use the Windows Snipping Tool to capture a screenshot of the message, for posting here.

Maybe also zip up and post here your logs/engine.log and logs/error.log (if any).

I've figured out how to save a screenshot to my computer. I haven't figured out how to embed it here.

I think it was a Windows or graphic driver message too. Whatever changed, it changed everything on my computer. It wasn't limited to CSME.

The movement was mundane. I don't know what triggered it. The message popped up and evaporated quickly. The message didn't stay on the screen for me to write down. My best recollection is that is said something along the lines of not being able to display and switching to an alternate.

I'll keep working on trying to post a screenshot.

Zip it to a .zip file. Then click on the "Click here to upload!" link you see at the bottom of the "Reply to Message" dialog.

Did a reboot resolve the issue?

At this point, if the situation is not resolved, I suggest you take this up with Matrix/Slither Tech Support. This seems to be an OS issue, the sort of thing they are better equipped to deal with.

Berto,

No, rebooting didn't help.

I zipped the file.

I clicked "Click here to upload."

[Edit:] It looks like I have Windows 10 Home Version 1703.

I downloaded the file and viewed the screenshot. It is just the game window, which looks to be fine. I don't see anything else outside of that window, in particular, I don't see any sign of horizontal stretching or other visual distortion. What am I missing?

But again, I think your best course of action is to take this up with Matrix/Slitherine Tech Support.

The center box should look noticeably longer than normal, and the French flag is not equal parts blue, white, and red. Instead, the blue and red are reduced while the white predominates.

Here's another screenshot. The same thing occurs with the French flag in the unit box on the right. The screenshot didn't pick up the variation on the list of commands at the bottom. Previously all the commands fit onto one line. Now the commands are listed on two lines. On the screen shot, the last command on the right is not the "next turn" button.

I'll contact tech support for Matrix/Slitherine tonight. But can you see the things I've described?

Here is a screenshot I have taken here:

There is nothing wrong with that, the flag and the dialog box look to be exactly the same as in your earlier screenshot.

Maybe that doesn't exactly match the actual French flag, but that could be the fault of whoever on our Dev Team prepared that in-game graphic; it is not a technical display issue. The graphic is showing as intended.

Your latest screenshot:

That is normal toolbar wrap. If the game window is not wide enough to show all of the toolbar buttons in a single line, the toolbar will "wrap" around to a second line.

If you don't like the toolbar wrap, you can try Options > Toolbar > Small. And/or you can try maximizing the game window.

Yes, I see the things that you describe. No, I don't think they are legitimate issues. Everything appears to be WAD.
