UI: Map cursor databox overlap - 12/1/2017 3:59:01 PM

Hey, the "Mouse cursor databox" overlaps mouse-over information (e.g. "Boston, 0 deg, 4 kts, -125 ft").
The quick work-around is to set it to "display on bottom", but then it (ironically) overlaps the message log instead...
The quick work-around to that is to set the message log to a separate widow, but then it blocks the mouse cursor databox, unless you have it slightly higher than the bottom of the widow.
I suggest adding some logic that makes this box not overlap with the mouse-over information, at least and possibly also moving the non-separate message log slightly higher, when the "bottom of window" setting is used.

Thanks.

Added this to the devs list of things to look at. Perhaps they'll figure out something.

I have used the data box on the bottom since it was an option years ago. It cuts off one, may two lines of the message box. Its not a big deal and don't think its something the devs need to spend a lot of time on.

A minor issue, I agree, but the point is I would prefer to have it on the cursor instead of in the corner and either way, it seems like an easy fix to an unintended problem. But putting it in the corner is a very workable solution, so it's a low priority issue.

While its good you are finding some nit picky issues, looking at the number of posts you are putting up, I would strongly suggest going through all the documentation, tutorials, and videos. And you try using the search function now and then to see if the topic has come up before. It saves having the devs jumping in every five minutes to answer questions that have been asked before.

I'm just pointing out issues as I come across them. It's the devs descision if they want to fix them or not. If nobody reports problems, they will never be fixed and if the devs are too busy, they can simply ignore problems. I'm sure they have a system for low and high priority issues. "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING" states to create individual threads for individual issues, otherwise I might combine several Mission Editor streamlining suggestions into one thread, for example.

Also, I've read all documentation and played all included tutorials (several times). That did not spare me from experiencing this bug through sheer force of insight.

Yeah, but some of the stuff you are posting would be answered with a little more playing time. Fine if you see some UI issues, but game play issues are different. Making the devs answer questions that can be answered by reading the docs, watching the videos, and play the tutorials should answer a lot of those questions. I thin the devs have mentioned that a couple times. My advice comes from living it and watching others go through the same thing.

I would hope it would be a common courtesy to try and get at some answers yourself through the multitude of resources the devs and the community has tried to provide. I will also point out that coming in with a completely snarky attitude from the get go isn't convincing a lot of people to step in and help.

Go **** yourself. I’ve already read all documentation, played all tutorials several times and none of that stops bugs from occurring or the user interface from lacking the streamlining touch of a professional UI designer that people have been asking for since Command first came out.

No swearing at other people.

What have people been asking for UI changes? I thought you are a new player?

Mike

Well regardless of your little tantrum...

I am just saying that beyond the nit-picking on UI issues, some of your questions are very basic and leads me to believe you either haven't made the effort to learn basics of playing before jumping in, or you don't have the ability to grasp basic concepts of the game, or you are purposefully using poor language and formatting to get people riled up. Maybe its a little of all of the above.

Yeah agreed. Games should help with stress not cause it. Perhaps this game isn't for him.

Well, **** for brains, do you want to learn something today?

1) Fighter AI glitches are not fixed by reading the ****ing manual.
2) Border + Coastline glitches are not fixed by reading the ****ing manual.
3) Illegible text (white on yellow, or overlapping windows) is not fixed by reading the ****ing manual.
4) Regarding the ME, 99% of all software that allows you to create something in a pop-up widow doesn’t actualise it until you press “OK” somewhere. The ME in CMANO literally forces you to pause the game every time you create a mission, because if the game is running and you accidentally assign the wrong airplane for example, it will be launched in real time with no warning (just an example; aircraft launching specifically has a delay). If missions had to be “confirmed” and some radio guy didn’t communicate the content to your soldiers AS YOU ARE WRITING IT, we could also avoid the annoyance of having to select reference points and targets before we even know what kind of mission we want to create. This is UI 101 and comes with many other benefits and which is why, for example, almost all software asks you to press “OK” after changing a setting, like the resolution on your desktop. HOWEVER, I had a feeling there would be some backwards regressionist that would defend the way the game works, which is why I SPECIFICALLY asked for other people’s thoughts and DID NOT PRESS FOR A DEMAND WITH LEGAL FORCE.

This is all I’ve “asked” about in the tech support. And questions I have asked outside of the tech support are irrelevant.

Deferring people to RTFM like a Bible every time they have an issue is not going to fix any ****ing problems and this is in a game that has been tremendously progressive based on negative criticism over the last 5 years.

Perhaps this game isn’t for the ****ing developers if people taking the time to report bugs on their ****ing tech support gives them a ****ing stroke.

You need to relax. thewood1 is trying to provide a temporary solution to your problem. No need to get angry. Report an issue, move on. No need to drag it.
