On larger screens there's plenty of vertical space to show the details of a specific unit and the stack as a whole at the same time.

Could we have an option to show both at once?

I think this would basically solve this issue, without having to make the Unit Info box larger permanently.

Just making the dialog modeless wouldn't be enough, you'd also need to have it update each time the selected hex was changed to make it a replacement for the sidebar.

I like your example above but wouldn't like existing panels to become larger.

I had the idea to use more space in the (mostly unused) Info Panel to show such information.
This could be optional and would not make existing panels larger:
