Thinking of getting back into the tactical game genre. Used to play a lot of Steal Panthers and Campaign series.

Should I go with Order of Battle or Close Combat series (never really played that in the past) or is there something else out there?

If this is old ground please link me to previous discussions.

Thanks and happy holiday sale

If you still find Panzer Corps enjoyable, then I would pick up all, or parts, of the OOB series, especially on sale. I would not recommend the Kriegsmarine DLC. Just me. Personally, I now find both games a little bit boring and tedious, although the editors are absolutely awesome, especially the one for OOB. That is why it's still on my hard drive.

I would not recommend the latest game in the Close Combat series. For some reason, CC Modern Tactics rang my bell, even without a campaign option. The rest I enjoy for modding. They all have the same problems that have been well documented and not really fixed.

My choice would be the Campaign Series Middle East, or if you want to get "groggier" maybe Flashpoint Red Storm. There is also a cheap little game on Steam called Fire Fight that is similar to CC.

Have fun!

Very good game, and especially tense in multiplayer. I would definitely spend for the upgraded BA2 though.

EDIT: I wasn't being fair when saying don't buy Kriegsmarine DLC. Some people don't agree on specific mechanics, but there's a lot more to the naval combat than Panzer Corps offers.

So would not want other buyers to get the wrong impression about that DLC. Not that I am taken seriously anyway.

I reckon I have played Panzer Corps more than any other game. I like its simplicity yet fun game especially over the long grand campaign. Love trying to get as many corps unit through the entire campaign. There must be 60 to 70 scenarios in it. I guess I would recommend PC.
I like OOB as well I find the graphics just a little off putting compared to PC.
