War in the West or Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa? I want to buy one this year. What would you recommend? They're both highly rated but I can hardly find any information on Witw (no grand campaign videos).

If you like air warfare and the West then WitW. If you like the East and less micromanagement the DC-B is great.

Thank you! I also read comments on steam and the forum here (vs. Wite). Went for DC:B first, mainly because of the lack of info for Witw but I'll try to get Witw as well this month - student problems.

I HIGHLY Recommend Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa. I own both but the staff-type decisions require in DC:B make it unique. Settling disputes between generals, deciding who gets what resource and angering the other, etc. nothing else like it and THAT is half of command: managing people

I own both games, but really struggled to get into WitW. I really enjoyed DC:B, particuarly the role-playing element (although this is not to everyone's taste). In my opinion DC:B is easier to learn and more fun! I agree with the comments above. Whichever game you get, I strongly recommend getting a printed manual.

dc-b is easy to learn but gets repetitive which is why I haven't played in a long time, also my pet peeve is lack of corp hq.
17th army controls almost 20 div.,you can run your div all over the place as long as they are in range of the army hq.
when I posted about the lack of corp hq on the dc-b forum I was told"there are not enough units!
but the game brags about it's accurate oob,huh
but this is an unfair comparioson,witw is more historically accurate dc-b is fun to play,just like panzer general{where is my ps-1}

I also really disliked Vic's decision to remove the Corps level from DC: Barbarossa, since I thought it worked excellently in DC: Warsaw to Paris and Case Blue. Added to that is the decision to make the Division the basic maneuver unit in Barbarossa, where it was Regiment in previous DC games. I understand why Barbarossa went in that direction ("too many units otherwise!"), but I just miss the tactical flexibility / nuance of previous DC games that had Corps level / Regiments.

Regardless, anyone who likes the Gary Grigsby games should try the Decisive Campaign titles, and vice versa. Definitely not 'either / or' for me, but 'both.'
