Here are mine as of 4/44. It is hard to keep even these top killers alive. Playing by email using DaBabes. They ubered out the Jack, George, and Frank and I am suffering a lot more losses vs Viberpol. Hellcats are so outclassed that the pilots hardly have a chance to advance on the list.

Now show us yours.

I swear I had a screenshot somewhere of my aces but I can't find it on my USB drive. I was working to get my top one to 99 Exp, but I don't think I made it yet.

So instead, for now, I submit these pilots that I set to running 90% CAP over Adak Island in 1942 and forgot about until at least 1944

Ah, I did find one from 10/3/1944. Filtered for USN though.

Do you mean the aces I keep up my sleeve or the ones I stow in my socks?

LOL, I did not know you could get the air factor up that high. None of my 90 exp pilots even with lots of combat time have air exp out of the 70 range. AT perma 90% did you suffer a lot of OP losses? I would think morale would have been rock bottom.

Nope, but there was no action up there whatsoever.

Zero and zero. (Or at least, the squadron still had 25 planes when I checked on them)

My VF-3 has some pretty impressive pilots as of February 27, 1945. But some of the defensive skills aren't that impressive.

Here's from 3.5 months ago in my Japan game. Stark difference. I even feel like I've done pretty well in the air in this game, in terms of avoiding really bad pilot losses, but comparing this side by side with the Allied one (which had a much more active air campaign) and crsutton's Allied one from an earlier date in the same year...

The quality of pilots at the top of the list is very different, and it's like night and day in terms of how many are dead or missing.

Interesting. Does only the Japan side show "ace level 5" at the upper left there?

It only makes sense that Japanese aces are at lower levels. Allied player get the better planes. Jacks and George are better planes now but still not the same as a P47. Probably more Japanese aces in 42 but who knows. Both the zero and Tojo are fairly easy to shoot down. Viberpol is a good player but I still am running a 3-2 kill ratio. And my pilot skill levels overall are climbing.

Probably a reflection of playing styles and opponents. You have a pretty good loss level for your pilots considering the date and look at my number of missing compared to yours. Perhaps because as the Allied I am flying many more offensive missions with many more planes over Japanese bases.

You've got a good smattering of Hurricane and Spitfire pilots. That is rather surprising.

Against AI Ironman so lots of targets (yeah-yeah, I know...). Not entirely hapless since japs fly Frank-r and A6M5c since autumn 42. Top pilot is the commander on Johnston Is. meeting regular Betty raids from Midway.

Wasn't sure it was going to be accepted by the PBEM crowd to post AI aces without the usual derision so I held off.

I guess since you broke the ice I'll post mine tonight.

My scenario 40 game (fighting those same Franks and A6M5c models) is in March of '44 with my ace list rivaling yours.

My top ace (a KIA) has something like 63 with number two at 57.

My favorite ace, Pappy, is hanging with the leaders at something like 43 or 44.

OK. So what are the screens that are not showing that text? Or is there some trigger that makes this appear instead, on the same screen?

Haha, this is why I preemptively self-derided :)
But then, this is good forum with good folks all around, so nothing to worry about unless you come through as a braggard with "my guys are the only real men here". Nothign wrong with AI playing, I'd go as far as saying that AI players might be the (silent) majority here

<Intelligence> ---> <List Top Pilots> will display "ace level 5" on the top left hand side

<Intelligence> ---> <Pilot Replacements> ---> <Reserve Pool> will not display it

I didnt do any research, but I suspect that at least 3 of those groups are / were based at Sabang. My opponent tried for months to take that base, so there was a lot of air combat in that hex. I was able to keep the base fortunately. The 14th NZAF group is at Lae now - it was heavily involved in the fighting to retake Port Moresby and Milne Bay.

They all look like the "list top pilots" screen though? It says "leading pilots" and shows WIA/MIA/KIA totals at the bottom...

It's been forever since I looked at the pilot reserve screen (and I'm currently out of town), but I don't recall it looking anything like that.

Something to the effect that the pilot is currently flying something different than the airframe with which he attained most of the kills he is credited.
