Hi Fellas,

Trying to get into playing Witp AE again but i'm having huge lag. Can't scroll around the map without a 3 second delay. If i click on any of the data card it takes 7 seconds to pop open. I tried to enter the code i saw on here but still same problem. Here is the code i used.

-f-dd_sw-deepColor-fixArt-SingleCpuOrders-altFont

I have the Beta version 1.01.26a Installed. I also had the 1.01.24 version installed and still lag.

System I'm working from:
Window 10 Home

Processor: Intel Core i17-4720HQ CPU@ 2.60GHZ 2.60GHZ
Memory: 16.0GB
System Type: 64 bit Operating System x64 base processor

I have no clue why this is lagging or what to do to help eliminate this lag.

Thank you for any help.
Clay

Your switch is wrong and should look like this:

-f -dd_sw -deepColor -fixArt -SingleCpuOrders -altFont

Would the fix also apply to War Plan Orange?

Unlikely, but it couldn't hurt to try it.

Hi Yaab, thanks for the reply.

I do have the spacing in the code just like you have it and the lag is there. I'm wondering if this is due to windows 10. The reason i ask is because my old laptop that has this code works off window 7 and it flys around the screen with no lag whatsoever. I also can click on a data card and in an instance the data card appears. My other computers, like the one i mention above and my AlienWare super cpu it lags with the 3 second delay or worse a 7 second sometimes 10 second delay for the data cards to open. It makes no sense that a more powerful cpu can't handle this game, but a small laptop not even close in power can zip around.

Any other suggestions/trouble shooting that can help solve my problem?

Thanks

I also had -SingleCpuOrders and some delays, but once I also put in -cpu2 the delays went away. Bill Olson explained that Windows O/S uses CPU 1 and things going on in the background can hold back game processing. Specifying one of the other CPUs gets the game on a different CPU processing thread so the O/S does not interfere.

Win10 did a lot to make old games performing poorly.
Maybe you could try to run the game executable in WinXP or Win7 compatibility mode (right click on .exe and chose the option if present)

Hey Guys,

I just loaded AE on my Laptop w/ Win10. I have the same lag as you're discussing above. so I'm not assuming, "WHERE" are you making these changes? is it in the Shortcut or Autorun properties?
