Yes, please, make the game easy to translate, there is enough people to make fan-translation to Russian. But I guess it should be posted in the "Master Wishlist Thread"

We've been making excellent progress so far this year, it's a huge job and can't say more than that yet, but keep the good vibes coming our way please.

It would be sooo awesome if you folks would consider putting out Dev Diaries once a month or so! :(

SO bored again with dumbed down Stellaris ...

if you felt it was dumbed down back in August, I can't imagine what your assessment is now with news of the 1.9 update.

Depends on what they do after the 1.9 update, Stellaris does have some good ideas to remove to Doomstack warfare issue. Paradox would not be taking this decision if they did not think it was a base for something better. Will have to wait and see what they do. The only thing which turns me down in Stellaris is the non-existent economy. And Space feels soo dead after seeing all those ships flying around in DW-U

The one thing which bugged me about Distant Worlds is by the end of the game, all your ships were Either heavy cruiser or Capital ships sized. Will there be any changes in the game which will make it rewarding to build a huge swarm of small ships? Maybe smaller ships could automatically have more movement speed and evasion bonus and as the size of the ship increases this bonus decreases and even turns negative.

I love escort swarms late game to use to wreck all the infrastructure as my capital fleets gather to wipe out the main systems. Press pause then go from base to base queuing up tons of escorts and with the massive parallel construction you can pump out several massive escort fleets before the first has even had a chance to get to the target.

At DW you got the freedom to freely create you ships.
You are the ingeneur who design it, and not like other game which give you a hull design and limit it at this way.
It is up to you, how you design your capital ship, fast like a fighter or slow with massive shield/weapons.
The ship class just set how the AI handle these ships.

You can still build a swarm of small ships if you want, you'll be able to construct them faster and you'll have ships that outnumber the enemy in the hundreds, if not thousands.

Smaller ships already have advantage of speed and, well, number.

Don't be too concerned with the "ship role" classification. That is primarily for the AI to organise ships and fleets, not for the player.

There hasn't been an update for DWU. Most likely it was a steam update that was directed at DWU. Nothing to worry about....GP

ok so 2017 is almost over and we havent seen a trailer, a beta test, not even a single leaked concept art. Guess I'm gonna spend this winter exterminating Atuuk, enslaving Securan and indexing all the other races on my empire as second class citizens without reproduction rights, again!

So, merry Christmas everyone.
Santa sure will be on time this year as he doesn't have his preview copy of DW2 to distract him ...yet

That is worrying but it says some of the games announced. So wait for DW announcement...when I don't know.

When we are more certain about the release date, we'll certainly let you know. At this time I can't discuss release timeframes at all, but I can say that the post you are referencing was certainly not intended to be a comprehensive list of possible 2018 releases.

3D modelling is terrifying me now for DW2.

One of the charms I loved, and the benefits I found, were the 2D sprites which allowed me, a modding noob, to easily add whatever ships I wanted in to the game. It also scares me that the ship designer becomes more about fiddling with 3D objects rather than focusing on a component list...

you are presuming too much with too little information available.
