When I start as the US, Britain, or Germans (not sure about other countries) from '42 till '49, the setting is almost always a desert, even when I specifically want plains, forests, or jungles. I just can't seem to work my way around this problem. I don't know if its a bug or its suppose to be historically correct. I know the allies and axis battled in North Africa during WWII but they definitely battled in Europe. Does anyone have a suggestion, solution, or confirmation on this?
Thanks

Having done both the German and British WWII campaigns, you will spend 42 in the desert if you want those two to fight each other. The Germans also have the option of going to the Soviet Union (bad choice) and the British have the option of going to the far east (another bad choice).
I haven't tried a long campaign during the WWII years, that may be your problem, with German as the active nation and US and UK as opponent nations you will be in the desert during 42 for sure.
If you want more choices of battlefield try the WWII campaign, then you get the two choices of area to fight. The Germans in Sov Union in 42 won't be seeing desert. The Brits in the far east will be seeing jungle and US should see jungle as well, though they won't be enjoying the view since the Japanese will be shooting them up right and left.
thanks, John.
